Alan Campbell: Interesting to see Sam Kerr start. No place for Jen Beattie with Sophie Howard alongside Rachel Corsie.

Robbie Hanratty: What does Lizzie Arnot have to do to get a game for Scotland? She's been in scintillating form for @RangersWFC, external this season. Bold move dropping Jen Beattie too but we shall see how it goes. Come on Scotland! #bbcsportscot #SWNT

  4. Ticket row 'behind us now' - Weirpublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

    Scotland v Spain (19:35)

Caroline Weir believes Scotland can put internal wrangling behind them and make up for November's 8-0 humiliation by Spain in Tuesday's return tie.

The Manchester City winger was one of the players who tweeted a criticism of tickets sales by the Scottish FA for the Group B World Cup qualifier.

The governing body expressed its "disappointment" at its squad's protest and defended its methods.

"I think that is behind us now - we're ready to go," Weir said.

    Scotland v Spain (19:35)

The size of the task in front of Scotland tonight appears enormous. Their last game with the Spaniards was in November in Seville when Scotland were on the wrong end of an 8-0 thumping.

Spain, unsurprisingly, lead the group with 43 goals scored and none conceded, with Scotland tucked in behind on second place just ahead of Hungary.

Scotland though are unbeaten at home in the qualifiers so far, posting wins over Faroe Islands and Hungary and drawing with Ukraine, which may offer some comfort.

    Scotland v Spain (19:35)

SWNT manager Pedro Martínez Losa tells BBC Scotland: "It's a totally different scenario tonight [from the last game vs Spain], we are here to qualify for World Cup and we have long term ambitions.

“This is an opportunity for us to show unity and connection with fans, to compete against one of the best teams in the world and improve on the things we have been working on.

“We want to press them high and keep the ball for longer periods of time. Hopefully, we can get the balance of the games and get opportunities."

The rain is chucking it down at Hampden, and Scotland will hope the conditions might help disrupt Spain's rhythm.

It's a long shot given the quality right through their ranks.

But with potentially over 8,000 home fans expected the Scotland players will be desperate to make their mark more than they managed in that 8-0 hammering in Seville.

  10. Scotland face the best in the worldpublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

    Scotland v Spain (19:35)

One player Scotland really need to get to grips with Alexia Putellas, who is currently regarded as the best player in the world.

Last year she was named Uefa player of the year and won the female Ballon d'Or. In between those two award wins, she took just four minutes to score a hat-trick for Barcelona against Valencia.

Still only 28, she is closing in on 100 caps for her country.

The Ballon d'Or runner-up Jennifer Hermoso is also in the Spain side, just to add to the quality. Both were on the scoresheet in November's 8-0 win.

  11. Scotland could be world champions tonightpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

    Scotland v Spain (19:35)

The twitter page @Pound4PoundWC charts the course of the world championship, a novel idea based on if the title was passed around as it is when a champion is defeated in boxing.

In much the same way as Scotland's men team became world champions when they beat England at Wembley in 1967.

Spain are the current 'holders' going by Pound4PoundWC's methodology, meaning Scotland would take the title with victory this evening.

Get that champagne on ice. We're about to be the best in the world.

  12. Three changes for Scotlandpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

Pedro Martinez Losa has made three changes from the 8-0 defeat to Spain in November.

Rangers midfielder Sam Kerr, Everton winger Claire Emslie, and Manchester United striker Martha Thomas come into the side.

Rachel McLauchlan, Rachael Boyle and Lisa Robertson are the ones missing who started the last game.
