Is this the best Fulham team in the Championship?

Rob Smith: This Fulham team is certainly far better than those under Scott Parker or Slavisa Jokanovic... better football, more consistent and movement excellent. But hard to beat the Jean Tigana team with Louis Saha up front. Saha and Mitro up front... what a combination that would be!

Chris Stanley: Fulham only need one thing to happen to ensure they stay up next season: make sure there’s three teams worse than them.

You make it sound so simple, Chris...

Goals are finally flying in across League One, and not necessarily where you'd expect them.

Leaders Wigan now trail 2-1 at Ipswich, Sam Morsy with the second, meaning the Latics will need quite some turnaround to confirm their promotion tonight.

Second-placed Rotherham are now 2-0 down at Burton, John Brayford doubling the Brewers' lead, while MK Dons - in third - are still 0-0 at Oxford.

Sheffield Wednesday remain a goal up against Crewe and quickfire goals have put Charlton 2-0 up at Cambridge.

Marek Rodak gets two strong hands to punch the ball clear. He has looked assured tonight when called upon.

    Fulham 3-0 Preston North End

Aleksandar Mitrovic's night has also come to an end, there'll be no hat-trick for him tonight.

He'll rue a couple of missed chances at the start of the second half to score his third but overall he'll be happy with a commanding performance as his side inch ever closer to Premier League football.

Rodrigo Muniz is on in his place.

Fulham try a corner straight from the training ground - Jean Michael Seri takes it short to Harry Wilson, who roles it across to Neco Williams on the edge of the area.

Williams unleashes a vicious strike and is unlucky to send it just over the bar.

Goal scorer Fabio Carvalho gets a standing ovation as he's replaced by Bobby Decordova-Reid.

Is this the best Fulham team in the Championship?

Tim Madden: The team is better than we have been for the last two promotions, but we still need four or five additions.

Joe Ridge: Fulham promotion winners have always been strong. Their issue is replacing the very players that got them to the Premier League.

Jonathan: The biggest difference that makes this Fulham side better than the last promotion is the manager.

A nice range of thoughts - could Marco Silva be the difference for Fulham in the Premier League this time?

Substitute Jean Michael Seri has an instant impact as he whips in a dangerous ball which just evades Aleksandar Mitrovic.

He gets a thumbs up from the striker, who is hungry for his third and Fulham's fourth.

Fulham are happy to let Preston have the ball for a bit, comfortable in their 3-0 lead.

The away side have worked very hard out of possession tonight.

Both sides make changes, with Jean Michael Seri replacing the impressive Harrison Reed for the home side and Scott Sinclair on for Brad Potts for Preston.

Put the champagne on ice, Wigan fans - Ipswich have levelled against the Latics at Portman Road through Conor Chaplin.

The League One leaders can only confirm promotion tonight if they win and MK Dons lose - with the Dons currently locked at 0-0 against Oxford.

Second-placed Rotherham still trail at Burton and will drop to third as it stands.

Preston are beginning to slow down now. They're accepting they're not going to change the nature of the game and maybe just trying not to give anything else away.

Harrison Reed has been absolutely dominating the midfield for Fulham, he has been exceptional tonight.

Aleksandar Mitrovic isn't the only one chasing records this season.

Fulham's third was their 98th goal of the season, which moves them within 10 of Manchester City's second tier record since the formation of the Premier League.

You wouldn't bet against them adding to their tally tonight, this game has remained pretty open with both sides creating chances in the second half.

They've had to be patient but Sheffield Wednesday have their lead against Crewe, as they look to wedge themselves into the play-off places.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is brought down and Lee Gregory sends the keeper the wrong way from the spot.

It's as you were elsewhere, which would mean Wigan will have to wait to secure promotion even with victory tonight.

TWO efforts against the crossbar in quick succession.

Cameron Archer forces a good save from Marek Rodak, who pushes the ball up on to the bar, with a great strike from distance.

Fulham take the ball up the other end and Aleksandar Mitrovic - on his hat-trick - is one-on-one with the goalkeeper but Daniel Iversen manages to tip his effort onto the crossbar.

This game is by no means dead and buried.

    Championship top six

Here's the state of play at half-time.

Nottingham Forest's maximum points tally of 85 means Fulham will be promoted with victory tonight - which is starting to look pretty inevitable.

If they beat Bournemouth at the weekend they'll all but secure the Championship title with three games of the season left to play.
