    FT: Preston 1-4 Blackburn

Well then that just about does us for this weekend's run of fixtures in the English Football League and there's still plenty to play for.

We return tomorrow evening for the midweek run of games as the 2021-22 season draws to its end.

Blackburn's thumping win tonight keeps them very much still in the mix for a play-off spot, but they've got two more games to leapfrog Sheffield United into sixth.

For now though, if you've joined us tonight, thank you very much and have a lovely rest of your Monday evening.

This is what the result has done to the play-off race.

Blackburn are still fighting, despite their awful run of form since the end of January.

Victory over their local rivals could yet prove season-defining.

Preston, meanwhile, stay 15th, with little to play for.

  3. 'No pressure on Rovers'published at 21:33 British Summer Time 25 April 2022

    Kevin Gallacher
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

There isn't really any pressure on Blackburn - they have to win their games, try their best and see what happens.

    Other teams might falter.

The players have to realise if they can play to their highest potential, people - and other clubs - will be watching them.

  4. 'Blackburn went about win in right way'published at 21:28 British Summer Time 25 April 2022

    Alan Kelly
Former Preston & Blackburn keeper on BBC Radio Lancashire

    Blackburn fully deserved the victory.

They went about the game in the right way and scored at vital times.

To me there wasn't a weak performance by any of their players - they got everything right on the night.
