    Helen Ward begins on the bench tonight, but it will be a special occasion for the 35-year-old striker should make an appearance.

    Ward, Wales' all-time record goalscorer with 44, has 99 caps.

    She has spoken in the lead-up to tonight's game about Welsh progress, retirement and combining football with motherhood - as well as the "pinnacle" that would be a place at the World Cup.

    There are three changes to the France side which started against Wales in their last qualifier.

    They all come at the back, with captain Wendie Renard, Sakina Karchaoui and Griedge Mbock Bathy selected by Corinne Diacre.

    Marie-Antoinette Katoto, scorer of nine goals already in this World Cup qualifying campaign, leads the French line.

    It has been a positive campaign so far for Wales, who are looking to reach a first major tournament in their history.

    But qualifiers do not come much tougher than this.

    France, who are ranked third in the world by Fifa, top Group I having won all six of their games to date.
