Guess what? We see a bit of urgency now from Senegal. They haven't shown enough urgency throughout this game. I wouldn't say they would be happy with a point but they haven't shown enough thrust in the 90 minutes.

Cody Gakpo has now been involved in four goals in his last four international appearances for the Netherlands (3 goals, 1 assist).

Strong response by Senegal as Pape Gueye lets fly from the edge of the box but Andries Noppert gets down to makes a terrific save.

They just needed that moment of quality. The ball was on the money. Gakpo just had to find the pace of the ball, whipped in brilliantly by De Jong.

It comes off the back of his head, it's brilliant innovation from Gakpo. That's a huge goal from a Netherlands team who really haven't threatened in this second half. Mendy shouldn't come, he gambles.

Dreadful goalkeeping from Mendy, it really is.

That goal came against the balance of chances really. The bigger the circle below the better the chance. Senegal's are in black and the Dutch ones are purple. The goal is the yellow dot.

Imagine saving thousands of pounds to fly out for a World Cup match a long way from home and it ends in a turgid 0-0. You'd be unhappy, wouldn't you?

Van Gaal will want to end his managerial career on a real high but the Netherlands have just lacked that spark in the second half. It hasn't really happened for them. Mendy has had a relatively quiet second half.

Every time Sarr runs at De Ligt with the ball he looks clumsy. Sarr has caused him a lot of problems.

The official attendance has just been announced as 41,721. That's interesting because it's 1,700 above capacity!

The ground looks only about three-quarters full.

It's Sarr again, down that left hand side. Causing De Ligt all sorts of problems. But he has the awareness just to feed the ball to the edge of the box. Idrissa Gueye takes a take a really good first touch and hammers the ball. My first impression was that Noppert made a great save but he makes a bit of a meal of it, it's a save he should be making.

Gueye went for power but all the same, important for Noppert to keep it out of the Dutch goal.

A flurry of changes for Senegal in the past few moments.

Simon Tilbury: Just in from work. Wondering how this game is goalless. Then I saw that somehow Vincent Janssen was playing for Netherlands. No surprise then.

Ed O'Toole: This game is a bit like after the Lord Mayor's Show. Both attacks a bit blunt. Can’t see either reaching the last eight on this evidence.

Senegal are temporarily down to 10 as play goes on. And the African champions carve out a great chance but Idrissa Gueye's attempt is kept out by Andries Noppert.

Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly immediately told his manager Aliou Cisse that Cheikhou Kouyate could not carry on. It means Senegal have the substitution ready to go straight away but they are waiting for the referee to allow it to be made.

It hasn't quite clicked so far for the Netherlands. Depay is on, it's good for him to get some minutes into his legs. They should be ahead in this game with the opportunities they had in the first half. You have to be clinical.

If one of these teams can get a winner, it doesn't half crank up the pressure on the losing team.

Bad news for Senegal. Cheikhou Kouyate is loaded onto a stretcher before being carried off. The Nottingham Forest player went up for an aerial challenge and landed awkwardly.
