Matty Cash is a name we're obviously all used to. He's used to the likes of Phil Foden and Gabriel Martinelli running at him when he's playing for Aston Villa in the Premier League.

He's being targeted early here, with no real support from his team-mates, but he's coping alright so far.

Mohammed Al Burayk earns Saudi Arabia a corner after his 35-yard strike is deflected over the bar.

    It was ambitious.

    Better from Poland.

They go direct with a long ball over the Saudi right-back and Arkadiusz Milik gathers.

They recycle it a few times and a left-wing cross goes all the way through to Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash, who skews a cross into the area.

It is a difficult one for Mohammed Al Owais but he does well to gather under pressure at his near post.

    Poland 0-0 Saudi Arabia

The Poland players are being booed every time they touch the ball.

    It's hostile for them.

Saudi Arabia are, of course, the nearest team to Qatar so it is short journey for a lot of the fans. We heard about fans making a 90-minute trip for their opening game.

Saudi Arabia have started in a very lively way. There's no fear - they're not just waiting to soak up the pressure.

They look like a group of people who enjoy playing with each other and understand each other.

    Hmmm.

Saudi Arabia get forward for the first time and Sami Al Naji looks to jink inside.

He appeals for a free-kick but the referee tells him to get up.

Saudi Arabia weren't afraid to tackle against Argentina on Tuesday and we've seen it already.

They leave one in on Robert Lewandowski and the Poland striker is hobbling away.

The noise was incredible during that national anthem. The belief is coming down from the stands - what a phenomenal help that is for the Saudi Arabia players.

    That's a nice touch.

In the pre-match photo goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais has just held up Alshahrani's shirt.

Poland v Saudi Arabia (13:00 GMT)

There has been some great footage from this World Cup so far but Herve Renard's half-time team talk against Argentina is right up there.

Saudi Arabia were trailing 1-0 at the break after a Lionel Messi penalty, but it could have been much worse with Argentina having three goals disallowed for offside.

It's fair to say Renard wasn't impressed with Saudi's pressing and the respect they were showing in the first-half.

Boy, did this team talk work too...

Saudi Arabia boss Herve Renard, who had a spell at Cambridge United in 2004, has urged his side not to rest on their victory over Argentina.

The victory was their biggest at a World Cup, and comes at a time of growth for sport in the gulf state, including the takeover of Premier League side Newcastle United.

"I think all the Saudi people were very proud of this victory," he said.

"They are hoping and expecting to host a lot of good tournaments, a lot of good sporting events. You have seen there is Formula One and boxing and I'm sure there will be more.

"It is important to add to this win. We need to improve to reduce the gap to the best European teams and ourselves, and also to the teams from South America.

"We need opportunities like this World Cup, it is very important to show our level."

Frenchman Renard has Polish roots through his grandparents but he said "I will be from Saudi Arabia" for the game.

Poland were largely ineffective against Mexico, only having two shots on target - one of which was the penalty miss by Robert Lewandowski.

"Perhaps stage fright paralysed a few people (against Mexico)," said coach Czeslaw Michniewicz.

"But it will not be there anymore."

He also confirmed that Lewandowski will stay on penalties, and the striker received the backing of Aston Villa defender Jan Bednarek.

"Robert is our captain, our striker," he said. "He wants to score for him but also the good of the team, that is most important. He wants us to win. I think he hides his pride in his pocket. I am convinced he places the team's success at the top."

Poland v Saudi Arabia (13:00 GMT)

    Let's talk about Robert Lewandowski.

He failed to score at the 2018 World Cup as Poland were eliminated in the group stage and he came into this tournament saying it would be "huge dream" to score at the World Cup.

He had a perfect opportunity to do just that when he won his side a penalty against Mexico but he saw it pushed away by Guillermo Ochoa to extend his run to four games without a game in World Cup football.

For context, the last time he didn't score in four successive games in league football (for Barcelona or Bayern Munich) was September and October 2016 when he went on a five-game run.

After missing a penalty in Poland's opening game against Mexico, striker Robert Lewandowski is yet to score in four World Cup matches.Image source, BBC Sport/Getty Images

Poland v Saudi Arabia (13:00 GMT)

Saudi Arabia striker Saleh Alshehri and boss Herve Renard have denied that players have been gifted the cars, though.

Alshehri said "the support of fans at home was the only reward they needed".

Renard said: "We have a very serious association, we have a very serious ministry of sport.

"It's not the time to get something at this moment.

"We have only won one game. We have two very important games to play. We are hoping for more."
