    Burnley 0-3 Aston Villa

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

We talked about the runs, the quality Aston Villa have. On this occasion John McGinn, who has been unselfish in the middle of the pitch, makes the run into the wider area on the left.

The delivery is good; nobody is marking Ollie Watkins. Such a slick move and he deserved a goal.

Burnley fans around me are all asking the same question: Where was the marking?

There was no-one near Ollie Watkins when he was picked out by John McGinn.

The Clarets are in big trouble.

    Chelsea 0-0 Wolves

My opinion is this will be a penalty. Romain Saiss definitely put his leg out into Lukaku's shin.

The referee goes to the screen.

The only doubt is whether the contact was inside or outside the box. It was near the line.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Chelsea 0-0 Wolves

Chelsea want a penalty now as Romeluy Lukaku takes the ball off Romain Saiss, who is on the ground with his legs out, and Lukaku goes over them and down.

    VAR to check.

Lovely finish! It is game over for Burnley for today.

The Clarets leave a lot of space on the left and Aston Villa take full advantage, John McGinn driving down there before playing a fine cross for Ollie Watkins to send a diving header into the back of the net.

A commanding display by Aston Villa.

Time is so up for Ralph Hasenhüttl now. Southampton now the bottom club above the relegation zone. The tactics are draconian, outdated and simply predictable. Adkins, Koeman and Puel all finished much higher and Hughes employed to simply keep them up. No improvement and players look ready to either leave or retire. Disgruntled Saints fan.

Ambitious free-kick by Reece James from the wing and it flies just wide.

Chance for Wolves now as Rayan Ait-Nouri cuts inside and shoots over.

    Brentford 2-0 Southampton

Southampton and Armando Broja want a penalty. He touches the ball past keeper David Raya, who takes him out.

The ref says no penalty, VAR says no penalty. The keeper must have got a touch first.

A huge 45 minutes for Burnley. They have back-to-back away games against Tottenham and Villa after this before entertaining Newcastle on the final day of the season.

They need something from this but it is going to require something special against a well-organised Villa side.

And now it's gone from bad to worse with the loss of captain James Tarkowski to injury. A huge mountain for the Clarets to climb.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 7 May 2022

    Burnley 0-2 Aston Villa

An early blow in the second half for Burnley as James Tarkowski has to go off after picking up a knock. He is replaced by Kevin Long.

Chance for Chelsea about 30 seconds into the second half. Romelu Lukaku heads a ball down to Christian Pulisic. He picks out Timo Werner, who shoots towards the bottom corner but it's well saved by Jose Sa.

    Final Score at Selhurst Park

Hassane Kamara still wanted further explanation from referee Graham Scott even after the half-time whistle. He walked side by side with him down the tunnel to continue protesting about the penalty given against him.

Palace by far the dominant team though. Ben Foster made some smart saves before half-time to keep the scoreline at 1-0. Watford 45 minutes away from a return to the Championship.
