Tottenham boss Antonio Conte to BBC Match of the Day: "A good draw, a good point. At the end we had an important chance to get the second goal and win the game. It is not easy to play against Liverpool because we are talking about an amazing team with a lot of energy, especially at Anfield where there is a lot of noise and a fantastic atmosphere.

"But at the same time we prepared very well, defended very well and didn't concede chances. At the same time with the ball I think we could do better but it is not simple to overcome their pressure.

"Now we try to rest and recover because on Thursday we have another important game against Arsenal. With only three games to go it will be very important to get points for a place in the Champions League."

On the progress Tottenham have made under his management: "I think this team has improved a lot. Don't forget I didn't arrive until November and you work very hard every day to give your players your football knowledge.

"It's good to see the players disappointed because they felt the possibility to take the chance to win against Liverpool at Anfield.

"We had chances and in the last minute had a great chance. I think the performance was good but for sure we can improve and we will improve through work."

A busy day in the Premier League...

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, speaking to BT Sport: "It is not easy to play Liverpool at the moment, especially away with this atmosphere. For my players, it was difficult to have a lot of noise around them.

"We have to be happy because we played a good game; we paid great attention defensively and caused problems in attack. We had chances.

"It is a pity because the players are disappointed, but they showed great desire. It is not simple to play against us. We need to recover, it was a physical game; Liverpool play every three days, to have this energy is incredible.

"But my team had a great energy. [Arsenal] is an important game because we are still in the race for the Champions League."

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurge Klopp speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "A difficult game, but I'm really happy with the performance of my boys against a top team that might play Champions League next season. They have world class strikers on the pitch set-up for counter-attacking. It makes life not easy, 1-0 down is difficult and we kept calm and forced the equaliser.

"Our mentality was incredible and the counter-pressing was a different level. But we faced an opponent set-up for counter-attacks with a full week to prepare, we accept that and it is a draw. We will keep going. We weren't tired. You are not as precise at the end of the game. They are down in the dressing room, it was intense. When you play top teams, you need luck in the decisive moments.

"I'm not happy, but not as sad as the players are right now and it is my job to explain why something happens like this. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were completely rested, that is why it is so hard. That is why the quadruple is so unlikely; there is a reason nobody has done it in this country. We will keep going."

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk to BT Sport: "Obviously we knew their game plan, we knew their quality, especially on the break. But I think on the ball we were just not good enough.

"We lost the ball in difficult situations and if you lose the ball there they can do what they are good at.

"It is frustrating to drop points, but we have to recover and play the remaining games. We have quite exciting games coming up and we must turn this frustration into focus on Villa.

"Give them credit they created good chances as well. We were looking for the equaliser and got it. We were looking for the winner but unfortunately we couldn't get it today.

"We are all human beings so there is a reason why we feel this way when we drop points. But it is what it is and now we have to recover and focus on Villa."

Luis Díaz has scored in back-to-back appearances for Liverpool in all competitions for the first time.

Tottenham are the first side to stop Liverpool from winning at Anfield in the Premier League since Brighton in October 2021 (2-2). Liverpool had won 12 successive home league games before today.

Tottenham have lost just one of their last eight Premier League games (W5 D2), with that defeat coming at home to Brighton last month.

Antonio Conte has lost just one of his six Premier League encounters with Liverpool (W1 D4) and remains unbeaten against the Reds at Anfield in the competition (D3).

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to BT Sport: "I'm really happy with the performance and proud of the mentality they showed against an incredibly good opponent with a game plan.

"A few things today were on a different level, the counter press was outstanding. But they scored a goal and we had to keep our calm and increase the pressure and that's a massive challenge. But we did and scored the equaliser.

"Obviously not the result we wanted but the performance was what I wanted so with that I'm fine.

"It is incredibly difficult to play against an opponent with world-class players and a world-class manager when they have had a week to prepare and we play every three days.

"The dressing room is not flying, come on, but there are other games to play. We just have to keep going."

Desalegn: Liverpool could finish with 92 points and not win the title. Out of the 13 Man United's PL title winning seasons only once they have managed that tally. With or without titles these two teams are a class above the rest. Standard setters.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Son Heung-min speaking to BT Sport: "It was a big game; Anfield is obviously not easy. It is a big point, but gutted we didn't make it at the end.

"Liverpool is one of the best teams in the world at the moment; sometimes we need to defend and we did well today. This was our game plan and we could do better with the ball. We have space to improve.

"We work at attacking as a team. We know where to run, which player will be free. This was perfect for our game plan, I am proud but it should be more. I'm exhausted, this is one of the toughest games I've ever played.

"Obviously [the Champions League race] is more important than my goals; I try to help the team. If we win, I don't have to score. I want to play in the Champions League and this is clear in our minds."

Alex Coe: Spurs have had a huge impact on the title race this season. Clearly they’ve all but ended Liverpool’s faint title hopes tonight, but Liverpool were only in it for so long because Spurs took 6 points off City. Opportunity both provided and taken away.

KW: Ah, the life of a spurs fan. Watching them go unbeaten this season against the top 2 teams in the land, home and away. Manage to lose games to teams fighting relegation that can't usually buy a win!

Spurs avoided defeat in a Premier League match at Anfield for the first time since 4 February 2018 (2-2 draw). That was Virgil van Dijk's first league appearance at Anfield as a Liverpool player.

Not too many happy faces at Anfield at full-time.

That was a very good performance from Tottenham but they know the top four is still in Arsenal's favour.

It was a masterclass by Antonio Conte, how he set his team up. Really difficult to beat, rigid 5-4-1 formation, compact, no space between the lines. They broke with pace and Liverpool struggled to control that.

Luis Diaz got a goal that could be important but it is over to Manchester City. They've got it all to do now, to beat a Newcastle side playing really well under Eddie Howe.
