Spurs fans are getting frustrated as Arsenal press and win it back in their half again. It's been slow from the back from the hosts.

Dejan Kulusevski gets stuck in to win it back for Spurs, then breaks down the right. Gabriel does well to stop him and wins a free-kick inside his own box.

It is a dive. I don't think Eric Dier gets any of the ball, he slides alongside him and Eddie Nketiah just goes to ground.

Rob: Oh no! Davinson Sanchez is playing.

Paul: That exhibition about Kane will be interesting. He’s a top striker. Just a shame that for all his goals he’s won absolutely nothing to show for it all. His chances of winning any trophies died with city signing haaland. They won’t be coming back in for him.

Tottenham can win three successive North London derbies at home in all competitions for the first time since 1980 to 1982, and in the league for only the second time.

Spurs are unbeaten in their past seven home league games against the Gunners, their longest run since they went nine without defeat at White Hart Lane between 1960 and 1968.

Arsenal are aiming to complete their first league double over Spurs since 2013-14.

The Gunners could win three consecutive North London league derbies for the first time since a run of five from 1987 to 1989.

One of the things Mikel Arteta has done while in charge of Arsenal is plant an olive tree in the grounds outside his office.

He bought it not just as a reflection of his ideal football culture but also as a metaphor for Arsenal Football Club. While the fruit and leaves are the showpiece of the tree - the top players if you like - they are no more vital to its flourishing than the branches that hold them and the roots that grow beneath it.

For Arteta, those roots are the people who help the first team flourish and embody the core values that will make the club bigger and richer - such as respect, humility, a willingness to suffer and a no-blame culture.

Without these roots, the top of the tree would wither and die.

    Tottenham Hotspur

Antonio Conte speaking to Sky Sports: "In the game against Liverpool Cristian Romero received an injury to his hip. We trust Davinson Sanchez and he played a lot of games in the past.

"Sanchez has come in for a few games and before that he played every game. We trust him and we have this solution. I'm sure he's going to play a fantastic game.

"The game has be right. We have to be better than Arsenal to get three points. We know they are a good team and have improved a lot."

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Glorious night in north London and a red hot (or white hot depending on your preference) on the High Road outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

So much riding on this game, especially for Spurs. Defeat is not an option for Antonio Conte's side. This will be a special atmosphere.

KW: No Romero? Not a problem, we'll just spend the whole game in arsenal's half. That way it won't matter who's in defence. Hopefully.

  18. 'Spurs have always needed to win'published at 19:23 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Tottenham v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

Anna from Spurs XY, external, talking to BBC Sport:

Spurs go into the match in good spirits, even if disappointed not to get more than a point at Anfield.

As always the next game is the most important – just this time even more so. A north London derby with a Champions League place on the line.

I don’t think the weekend results will impact Antonio Conte’s plans too much. It is a game Spurs have always needed to win. The team will likely remain the same, but he may tweak things a bit in anticipation of Spurs seeing more of the ball.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min like scoring in north London derbies and, with the crowd as our 12th man, I feel confident of the three points. COYS!

  19. 'Onus on Tottenham to attack'published at 19:21 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Tottenham v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

    Alan Hutton
Former Tottenham defender on BBC Radio 5 live

This will be an interesting tactical battle.

Arsenal don't really need to come out all guns blazing and try and go for the win early on. I think the onus is on Tottenham to try and create something early on.
