  4. 'Romero absence a blow for Spurs'published at 19:12 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Tottenham v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

    Matthew Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Cristian Romero is a really big blow for Spurs because he is a player that allows them to play the way they play. He is a bit more positional savvy than Davinson Sanchez. Romero is in very good form and it is a real shame for Spurs and him personally that he can't play in such a big game.

Mikel Arteta says his players "do not need any more motivation" to beat Tottenham even if Champions League qualification is at stake.

"The message is clear and we do not need any more motivation. We all know where we want to be and the opportunity is ahead of us.

"In a north London derby, whether you’re a player or the manager, winning is always the best factor.

"It’s also about how you win it and the experiences you go through during the 95 minutes or so in a game.

"Our players know what to expect and it’s up to them to handle those situations."

After a run of four straight league victories, Tottenham have won just one of their last four.

However, Spurs have won four of their last five home league games, scoring at least three goals in each of those victories.

The Gunners have registered four consecutive league wins.

But they have conceded at least once in every game for the first time since a run of five from February to March 2012.

  13. 'Hard to pick a winner'published at 18:53 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Tottenham v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

I am not really expecting a good match here in the usual sense because it will be played at 100mph but it will be a good one to watch even if the quality is not there.

Tottenham are the team who have to win, but it is going to be interesting to see how Arsenal approach it. They don't find it easy to control most games, let alone like this one where there will be loads of bookings and maybe not much football played.

I don't actually think there will be that many goals either, and it is very hard to pick a winner..

    Prediction: 1-1

Arsenal were in the midst of a revival when the teams last played each other in the league in September at the Emirates.

They came away with a 3-1 win in a highly entertaining encounter as Spurs were going through a patchy run of form.

Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka put Arsenal 3-0 up early in the first half.

Spurs improved after the break as Son Heung-min pulled one back but Mikel Arteta's side held out for a deserved win.

  18. If Arsenal win...published at 18:36 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Tottenham v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

Victory for Arsenal would guarantee them qualification for the Champions League and fourth place.

It would be their highest Premier League finish since the 2015-16 campaign when they finished second.

It would also be the first time since then that they have finished above Spurs.

  19. Battle for the top fourpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Tottenham v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

This is a BIG game. Not only is it between two of the fiercest rivals in football, it is also a huge game in the battle for a top four spot.

Arsenal are in the driving seat with a four-point lead over Tottenham but that gap could be reduced to just a point if victory goes the hosts' way tonight.

Likewise, Arsenal can pull away from Spurs if they win and would be seven points clear with just two games remaining - job done.
