  1. Leeds survive - and fans stay off the pitchpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Brentford 1-2 Leeds

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Brentford Community Stadium

The Leeds celebrations were pretty joyous after the final whistle.

But their supporters remained in the stands as they hailed their team's top-flight survival.

That was not easy - and without Sergi Canos' red card - it might not have been achieved quite so comfortably.

    But they did it.

I'm assuming those flames represent the Leeds team and not Bamford's current body temperature. Nothing like Premier League safety to ease your covid fever.

  4. 'This is for all Ukrainian people'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Manchester City are champions

    Manchester City

Oleksander Zinchenko speaking to Sky Sports: "Unforgettable emotions for me - for all Ukrainians who are at the moment starving, and surviving in my country because of Russian aggression. I am so proud to be Ukrainian and to bring this title to Ukraine, for all Ukrainian people because they deserve it.

"It means everything for me - I would die for these people and their support. What people gave me and what they have done for me during this period, the toughest period of my life, I am so appreciative and I will never forget this, never in my life.

"At some point, in the beginning of the war I didn't think about football because it's impossible to live and know what is happening in my country. But with all the support I have had, we did it.

"I hope we will keep going because this amazing club deserve it."

  5. 'All good things come to an end'published at 19:44 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards on Sky Sports: "Fernandinho's been absolutely immense from start to finish. He came to Manchester and embraced the culture.

"He's really worked hard for the team and improved. He was a real joy to be in the changing room with. All good things come to an end. To win the Premier League, there can't be a better send off."

  6. 'Tough when you keep hearing cheers'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Wolves

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson told Sky Sports: "It was a tough afternoon for us, we didn't play particularly well. We went a goal behind and a few nerves today but in the end we came through well. We kept going and found a way to win which was pleasing."

Were they aware of the Man City score? "Not really. The crowd were cheering but we did not know the score. We focussed on what we needed to do and got the job done in the end.

"We have been in this position before and it is tough when you keep hearing cheers. We kept believing and we found a way today to get the three points but it was not enough today.

"The lads have given everything until the last day but it is not over yet, we still have a game next week.

"Congratulations to City but focus on a huge match against a very good side. We have to be at our very best if we want to come away with the trophy."

  7. 'We surprised them'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves manager Bruno Lage, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think it was a good end to our season. We started very well, we surprised them a little bit. It was part of our strategy.

"I thought we had good chances to increase our lead. Then they scored. We conceded two more goals, which were disappointing goals to concede, and we lost the game.

"I think it was a good game, a good performance with good personality. I’m happy because we gave the image we need to continue to give next season.

"My players accept the challenge to play against this kind of team. I’m proud of them because they go with the plan. They’re a fantastic team, changed the players and put us in trouble again, but there were two or three situations where we could have scored again and put them in trouble.

"We need to be more consistent in this kind of thing. That’s why I have everything in my mind to prepare the next season. We have all the solutions in our squad to be competitive and consistent.

"We need to find the right targets. It’s clear what we need in each position. If someone goes we need to replace them in the best way. It’s important when you lose a top player you need to take care to replace them and continue the way Wolves have in recent years in the Premier League."

On interest in Ruben Neves: "As of now it’s just rumours. We don’t have any official proposal from anyone. If we lose players, we need to be prepared to replace them as soon as possible."

  8. 'I’m extremely grateful'published at 19:35 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Arsenal 5-1 Everton

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports: "It was really positive game. At the end it was a really positive goal, we enjoyed it with our supporters once more."

If there was a drop in performance with Everton's goal at half-time: "I don’t know. Obviously we had the game at the back of our hands and we had to depend on the result, but we did what we had to do."

On the team’s emotions after Monday’s loss against Newcastle: "After Monday I was in such pain the way we conceded that game because this game was something different. We have to be very proud, we have the energy and the momentum for what we want to achieve, I’m extremely grateful."

  9. 'We deserve to be where we are'published at 19:32 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Norwich 0-5 Spurs

    Norwich City

Norwich boss Dean Smith, speaking to BBC Sport: "It sums up our season, we've given away some simple goals, they've scored some good goals and the best team won on the day. We missed good chances and if you do that in this league you'll get punished.

"We've had some small spells [since I've been in charge] where we've done OK. We did OK when I first came in and we had the wins against Everton and Watford. We've had injuries at bad times to some key players but we deserve to be where we are."

On if Norwich are in a good position to bounce straight back: "I think history has proven that we have. We haven't got many players out of contract. Lukas Rupp leaves us now, the four loans leave us and we'll bring some new players in."

  10. 'I'm certainly not happy'published at 19:29 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Brighton 3-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes: "I’m not happy because I didn’t enjoy the team’s performance. In the first half, bits of it were OK. I thought we kept the ball quite well and made it difficult for them, but that wasn’t what we’re about today.

"We’ve been resilient but we weren’t resilient today. When we were winning, the players didn’t show that toughness and that bottle that they’ve had before.

    "I’m certainly not happy."

On losing a lead for the second successive game: "We lost two goals when we were two goals up last week, so if we’re going to lose three and two, we’ve got no chance. We’re going to be a team at the bottom of the league if we are going to keep losing goals like we have.

"It doesn’t feel like I’ve done a good job this season at the moment because I wanted better.

"I can only think of my last game and maybe in a few weeks’ time I’ll change my thoughts, but at the moment I’m angry with the players today because I’m not going to have the way they performed today."

"I’m going to have a break as there is no way I can keep this going at the rate we’ve had this year.

"Overall, if today was anything to go by, we have to do a lot more than I first thought."

  11. 'We showed great character in the second half'published at 19:25 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Arsenal 5-1 Everton

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Cedric Soares on the final result: "Yes I think we all deserve this, our fans deserve this. It was a long run, I think we reached a very high level. This is the level we are on and most of the season and we showed it."

On controlling procession: "Individuals were working hard. We knew it was going to be tough but we controlled most of the game. That one goal we didn’t deserve in that moment they [Everton] had strength as well, but we showed great character in the second half."

On scoring in the second half: "Today we were in the lift and there were four or five players and I was the only one who hasn’t scored this season and they said 'today is your day' and it actually happened. We are cheering for each other and this will definitely help achieve more goals."

On the Europa League: We always look for more and this is the mentality in the club and we never stop fighting for places, but I think we have a chance to play Europa League football next season and we’ll grab it with both hands."

  12. City apologise to Olsen and launch investigationpublished at 19:21 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

Sadly, once again on-field celebrations have been tarnished by the actions of a fan.

Manchester City have released a statement, external apologising to Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who was assaulted after the final whistle at today’s match when fans entered the pitch.

"The club has launched an immediate investigation and once identified, the individual responsible will be issued with an indefinite stadium ban," say City.

  13. 'We are legends'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Manchester City are champions

    Manchester City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola talking to Sky Sports: "The last game is always special, a lot of emotion. Aston Villa gave everything but the first goal changed everything. We had to handle it.

"We are legends. When you win the Premier League in this country four times in five seasons it is because these guys are so, so special. We will be remembered.

"Winning at home in front of our people is the best. The moment we equalised we had the feeling we had the chance to score the third.

"The magnitude of the achievement is related to magnitude of our rival and I have never seen a team like Liverpool in my life. Congatulations to Liverpool - they have made us better and better each week.

"I don't have the energy or desire to think about next season now. We are champions again."

  14. 'I am really proud'published at 19:17 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Manchester City are champions

    Manchester City

Fernandinho on what it means to be taken in by Manchester City: "We have the same traits. We're fighters, we never give up.

"I want to thank everyone here. In the last two years when they chose me to be captain I always tried to be in a position to help them. Of course, these people deserve by far to be in the position they are in.

"I am really proud. When I came over I dreamed to be in the Champions League."

  15. 'Character, mentality, desire'published at 19:15 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Brentford 1-2 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch, speaking to BBC Sport: "I knew it was going to require all of my being when I came here and that proved to be true.

"What it showed more than anything else is that we have a group that pours everything they have into what we want to be. Football wise we are not perfect yet and never will be.

"I know we have to develop in that way. But character and mentality and desire and commitment and personality and belief, I have never seen a group like this. We have rode that in a lot of ways and tried to keep pushing ourselves to get better and better.

"I am also very proud of the individuals since I have been here that have gotten better and better, grown and contributed in big ways, not just to how we play on the pitch but who we are as a team. I was so focused on just keeping this club in the league so we can become more and more what I want us to be and we want us to be. Now we have a chance.

"In general Kalvin [Phillips] has been fantastic. He is a great leader and he has grown as a person I think to take a role as player and leader. But I think a lot of guys have been playing well. Sam Greenwood comes into a tough game in a different position and plays great. And again, the resolve and the belief.

"I have been in final days where I have had to keep track of what is going on and managed our mentality and our play. The heat was one of the biggest factors today. Both teams were suffering but our ability to keep focused was going to be really important. But we go up a man and then give away a goal so it is tighter than it needs to be. But our resolve to find a winner in injury time again, it is down to the character of the group.

"Jack Harrison is one of our most intelligent players and he can adapt to numerous positions. He wants to grow. We were on opposite sides in the MLS but now we are together I am very thankful.

"We have to build the club in the right way. When Marcelo [Bielsa] left he took 10 people with him. We have been working with a smaller group of people doing multiple jobs. We need to bring in the right kind of players and continue to rely on the mentality of the club and players."

  16. 'We felt a bit of pressure'published at 19:13 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Wolves

    Liverpool

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota: "Emotional day. Fans reacting to whatever was going on in the other game and we felt a bit of pressure in the game. We won but it wasn't enough.

"We could feel it, especially after coming off. I asked and it was 2-0. 75 minutes gives you that extra hope but can kill you too.

"We took all the competitions to the last game. Won two, lost this one and the next one is massively important. Rest for a few days then go again."

  17. Kane joins final-day clubpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Norwich 0-5 Spurs

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has scored nine goals on the final day of Premier League seasons, the joint-most in the competition’s history alongside Andrew Cole and Les Ferdinand.

He ended on 17 Premier League goals this season, fourth in the scoring charts.

  19. 'The best group I've ever had'published at 19:09 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Wolves

    Liverpool

More from Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "If we’d known the situation before the season I probably would have said I’ll take that – although I’m not too sure with the league. If you want to win big, you have to be ready to lose big. That’s what we did today.

"It’s all about reacting. We can’t react in the league tomorrow, but next year we can.

"I’ve already told them 500 million times. This is the best group I’ve ever had. It’s a joy to come into work every morning. We need a solid basis to react to defeats. We know why we didn’t make it – we needed a bit more consistency in the first half of the season.

"There’s space for improvement and we’ll work on that. It’s really cool when you don’t need 10 changes, you just build on what you have. That’s what we’ll do.

"If people on the outside don’t understand how special this club is, I can’t help them. Hopefully now, we’ll get our third trophy of the season."

  20. '92 points is absolutely incredible'published at 19:07 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Wolves

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "Congratulations to Man City and Pep Guardiola. Thank you to Aston Villa and Wolverhampton for making a proper game of it.

"It’s not the result we wanted. It was a bit of a rollercoaster. I don’t know the results exactly but I know they were 1-0 up – were they 2-0 up as well? Of course at the moment there’s disappointment here as well.

"If it’s 5-0 to City after 10 minutes it’s just a normal game for us. It wasn’t our best game either, but it’s all good. 92 points is absolutely incredible. We wanted it all, but now it’s OK.

"[Finishing second] is the story of my life. I’m still record holder for not getting promoted in Germany with the highest points tally. You need to get more points than any other teams, but we didn’t do that.

"You can’t do more than give your absolute best and that’s what the boys did again. We chased the best team in the world to the wire, that’s absolutely special. We’ll build a team again and go again."

On Thiago's injury: "I think he’ll be out of the final but I don’t know. He’s limping, so it’s maybe not the best sign."
