Adrien Rabiot wins the ball off an Australian defender and passes to Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe backheels the ball back to Rabiot, who squares for Giroud to have a straightforward finish.

France are on top now and starting to click.

France have realised crosses into the box is their route to goal. Antoine Griezmann clips one in from the left and Olivier Giroud heads over.

Giroud was offside actually.

It's a thumping header but it is all about the ball though. Theo Hernandez with a wonderful ball in and Adrien Rabiot times his run and plants the header back across the goalkeeper who can't do a thing about it.

Australia do clear that Antoine Griezmann corner but never really get it away properly. Theo Hernandez whips in a follow-up cross and Adrien Rabiot meets it in the centre to power home a header.

France have a corner... cleared.

You can understand the tactic but he's already lost possession eight times - almost as if Australia were expecting it.
