Sloppy from the French again but I thought this was in! It is inches away from Lloris' left hand post but he is not stopping that

Here is Australia's first goal if you haven't seen it.

Super strike from Duke - you could see in his eyes he thought it was close from his reaction.
He strikes it really clean but it just starts to turn away from the post. Great effort.

France 0-1 Australia
What a moment this would have been! Almost 2-0. France's Theo Hernandez loses the ball (his brother Lucas was beaten for the first goal) and Mitchell Duke has a wonderful effort from 25 yards out which flies just wide. So close.
Plenty of Mooy
France 0-1 Australia
Much was made of France's missing midfield stars Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante before the tournament.
Without them patrolling the middle of the park, Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy is showing Les Bleus how it's done.
He's run the show so far with more successful passes than anyone else.

Good honest tackle. Won the ball. France didn't like it but the referee did.

France 0-1 Australia
A crunchy nut cornflakes of a tackle by Australia's Jackson Irvine on Aurelien Tchouameni. He takes the ball so it counts as a great challenge.

Antoine Griezmann has been a joke so far, every time Australia get the ball they just pop into Aaron Mooy and he just stands there and watches him.

We going to see a Saudi Arabia v Australia final?
Another shock?

What a start for Australia. They cut France wide open and that was a super finish by Craig Goodwin. Cue a deafening blast of Men At Work's "Down Under" to celebrate.
Word of warning to The Socceeroos. Kylian Mbappe is looking quite sharp so far.

Australia left-back Aziz Behich cruises forward and wins an easy free-kick off Adrien Rabiot.

Craig Goodwin, who plays for Adelaide United, has scored two international goals - against Vietnam and now France.

France 0-1 Australia
It's obviously still early but looking at the numbers, Australia have made the more composed start here.
They're edging the possession stats and have kept the ball better with a passing accuracy of 86% to France's 78%.
And of course the most important figure is the one on the scoresheet for the Socceroos.
How will France respond?

France 0-1 Australia
Australia have won two World Cup games ever. But thier only clean sheet was back in the 1970s.

France 0-1 Australia
Another French attack breaks down. Australia are defending well.

France had a corner which came to nothing as that all-Hernandez sub was happening.
'Brilliant composure'
France 0-1 Australia
Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One
Wow.
What a pass from Harry Souttar, it's a brilliant ball, a good bit of skill from Mathew Leckie, great ball to the back post and there's his opposite winger Goodwin.
Not an easy finish either - keeping it low, making sure you hit the target, not trying to hit it too hard - he side-foots it rather than trying to lace it.
Brilliant composure - would have been easy to lash at it with your laces and wildly hit it over or wide but he took his time and side-footed it into the roof of the net.
Brilliant start.
SUBSTITUTION
France 0-1 Australia
France defender Lucas Hernandez can't continue after that injury. He's replaced by... his brother Theo.
