It was a very well-crafted goal and it all came from Leroy Sane. The finish was just fantastic, smashing it up to the top corner, there was no chance for the goalkeeper.

Great tackle from Nico Schlotterbeck!

The subs first act after coming on is to slide in and time his challenge to perfection to stop Alvaro Morata getting an angled shot away in the box.

Another German change sees Nico Schlotterbeck on for David Raum.

Germany have actually had more efforts on goal than Spain (11-7) in this match. But that Niclas Fullkrug shot is by far the most vital.

Things looking slightly better in Group E for Hansi Flick's team albeit they could still be looking for a big favour from Spain on Thursday.

So, as it stands, Germany need to beat Costa Rica and hope Spain beat Japan to qualify.

It's a rosier picture for the Germans than it was a few minutes ago.

We have been treated to a fantastic contest. A lot of technical skill at the highest level and also the excitement of seeing new players.

Just before that equaliser, Jordi Alba was taken off and replaced by Alejandro Balde for Spain.

Just after it, Jonas Hofmann has come on for Serge Gnabry for Germany.

We said that Germany didn't have a threat so they had to make a change and he's made a difference.

Jamal Musiala was in a very similar position not long ago. He tried to go for power and he did the same.

What a finish! He gave the goalkeeper no chance, there was too much power on it. Before he could move it was in the net.

And again this was a goal created by substitutes.

Sane gets the ball, passes it in to Musiala and then Fullkrug gets it at an angle and absolutely smashes it. No chance for Simon.
