Kevin de Bruyne didn't rate Belgium's chances of winning the World Cup before this game.

I'm sure he definitely doesn't now.

Belgium look like pale shadows of the team they were. Not fit enough, & utterly clueless. Eden Hazard has been abysmal. Well done Morocco. totally deserved.

    Jeff

That’s embarrassing. It’s not that Morocco were amazing. More that Belgium were awful. Should really beat these teams. Seems they did an England.

    Nick

Morocco thoroughly deserve their victory. Their game plan worked and hit Belgium on the break.

    Pablo Zabaleta

There was no reaction from Belgium after the goal. We have seen very little from that team. If they continue playing like that then they will have no chance in the next game against Croatia.

For me, the problem is just mentally. They have to be much tougher.

They have players to do a lot better than we saw today.

Luminol Nights: Why is no one talking about the obvious? Martinez is an average manager at best who’s been carried by some exceptional players. They’ll get rid of him now, but it’s 6 years too late.

  8. 'We lost our composure after the goal'published at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2022

    FT: Belgium 0-2 Morocco

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez: "It's a difficult result because the first goal affected the outcome a lot. It's a dead ball situation, we couldn't get our game going and it's a game that we need to understand. We need to be together and react in the next game. That's what happens in the World Cup.

"The way we defended the goal is the way we have been defending free-kicks for six years, that's not the issue. It's a good ball in, it's nothing to do with the set up.

"I think we had good moments but we couldn't get clear cut chances, we only had a couple of half opportunities and if you allow that goal to be conceded then it changes the game radically.

"At the moment we conceded the goal we lost our composure too much and we couldn't get ourselves back in the final third with more thought.

"We knew Morocco were getting bodies behind the ball and we couldn't break them down. The game went away from us the moment we conceded the goal.

"We need to make sure that we get stronger together and we'll get ready for the third game."

The connection between fans and players is making a huge difference. They are like the 12th player, the stadium was red for Morocco. It made a difference. You can see it and feel it.

  11. 'It is really sad to see Belgium's lack of fight'published at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2022

    FT: Belgium 0-2 Morocco

    Pablo Zabaleta
Ex- Man City and Argentina defender on BBC One

We spoke about the mentality of that Belgium team. When you have some of your best players coming out and saying 'we have no chance at this World Cup, the squad too old.' It will affect the mentality of the squad.

We have seen no passion, no fight, no energy. Nothing. They still have individual quality to win games and get through the last 16 but it is really sad to see that Belgian group of players not fighting for the country.
