Who is going to win it?published at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022
Throughout the tournament, the boffins at the BBC, using data from Opta, have been producing a prediction model for nations' chances of winning the World Cup.
The prediction model estimates the probability of each match outcome - win, draw or loss - by using betting market odds and Opta's team rankings. The odds and rankings are based on historical and recent team performances. The model then considers opponent strength and the difficulty of their path to the final by using match outcome probabilities.
As you can see, the latest version has seen Argentina and Netherlands both leap up following their progress to the last eight.
Brazil remain the model's favourites for success, though.
