    Brazil 2-0 South Korea

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Brazilians are dancing in the corner.

The Korean goalkeeper is trying to put Neymar off but he is having none of it.

Slow, composed run up, watching him all the way and just rolls the ball into the corner.

    This is the perfect start.

GOAL - Brazil 2-0 South Koreapublished at 13 mins

    Neymar (penalty, 13 mins)

Kim Seung-gyu in the South Korea goal tries to put Neymar off by standing close to the left-hand post.

Neymar isn't too bothered about that, with the slowest possible run-up. It fools the South Korea keeper, who gets sat down as Neymar calmly slots it in the bottom corner.

This game looks done already. Brazil two up and coasting.

That's Neymar's 76th goal for Brazil. One more to equal Pele's record.

No prizes for guessing which side of the field Vinicius Jr is occupying.

Neymar is also drifting out to the left and Brazil are finding their talismen with ease.

    Brazil 1-0 South Korea

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stadium 974

Just what Brazil wanted and what a composed finish by Vinicius. He received that cross in a packed penalty area, assessed situation in an instant then applied the finish.

Much is made of Neymar but what a special talent Vinicius is.

What a finish. What a cool customer Vinicius Jr.

Everyone thought he'd hit it first time but he composes himself, takes a touch and lifts the ball into the net.

Brilliant finish by this young superstar.

GOAL - Brazil 1-0 South Koreapublished at 7 mins

    Vinicius Jr (7 mins)

Brazil score with their first shot on target. It comes after some magic from Raphinha down the right wing. He shows his dancing feet, plays a one-two and then close to the byeline pulls it back.

Neymar, under pressure, can't get a touch but it falls to Vinicius Jr and despite five South Koreans being between him and the goal, he takes a touch and then curls the ball past all of them. Lovely goal.

The masked Son Heung-min gets the ball on the left and is instantly crowded out. Brazil then break at pace with Richarlison linking up with Neymar, but South Korea have enough bodies back and are able to clear their lines.

  15. 'Neymar is the difference'published at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2022

    Brazil 0-0 South Korea

    Chris Sutton

I'm not reading too much into that defeat to Cameroon because it was a Brazilian reserve team. Nine players were rested and Neymar is back; he is the difference.

An early goal could do for them.

    • Eleven of South Korea's last 12 goals at the World Cup have been scored in the second half of games, with four of the last seven being scored in the 90th minute or later. Their only first half goal in this run was Kim Young-Gwon’s equaliser against Portugal last time out (27th minute). Brazil have failed to score in the first half in any of their last five World Cup games.
    • Brazil have progressed from each of their last seven round of 16 matches at the World Cup, only failing to win in normal time once during this run, progressing via penalties against Chile in 2014. They were last eliminated at this stage in 1990 against Argentina.
    • This will be South Korea's first game in the knockout stages of the World Cup since 2010, when they were beaten by Uruguay in the round of 16 (1-2). They have only won one of their five games beyond the group stage in the competition (drew one, lost three), with that victory coming against Italy in the last 16 in 2002.
    • This will be the eighth meeting between Brazil and South Korea, and the first ever competitive meeting between the two sides. Brazil have won six of the previous seven matches (lost one), most recently a 5-1 victory in June.

  20. 'Lot of empty seats'published at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2022

Brazil v South Korea (19:00 GMT)

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Stadium 974

We've got around 10 minutes until kick-off and there's a lot of empty seats at Stadium 974.

For those that are here, it's dominated by yellow. There's a huge group of Brazil fans behind the goal to our left and they have been noisy.

The South Korean faithful, a smaller group, are behind the goal at the other end.
