If you are Croatia you want to find any weaknesses.

If they are going to try and win this game in extra time they will have to push further forward.

I think the most likely way for Croatia to win this game is through penalty kicks.

The way Croatia have set up is to take this game to penalties.

It has been very possession-based.

Gasps from the crowd as Pedro almost connects with a acrobatic volley. Problem is he didn't mean to, I don't think. Looked more of a slip as he tried to meet the cross.

The Croatia midfield three of Mateo Kovacic, Marcelo Brozovic and Luka Modric have been instrumental.

The black triangles below show their tackles, interceptions, clearances, recoveries and blocks.

The purple ones show the equivalent by Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta.

Croatia have undoubtedly won the midfield battle.

Aleks: This game once again proves there are no fixed favourites at this world cup. One day you're 7-0, 6-1 or 4-1 up against a fairly quality opposition then losing on penalties and called 'boring'.

But before Alex Sandro is introduced, Brazil also cut open Croatia from the left.

Rodrygo whips in a dangerous ball but it is too strong for a team-mate and Croatia are delighted to see the ball go wide.

Alex Sandro was not fit enough to start for Brazil after a hip injury, but he is fit enough to try and make an impact now.

The Brazil left-back is stood on the touchline and ready to come on.

The samba band is still playing in the arena where Paulistanos (São Paulo residents) have gathered - and the beer is flowing freely at the bar - but the mood is definitely more subdued.

Brazilians have felt pretty confident they'll be going through to the finals but with no goals yet scored, the tension is certainly rising.

Tension is high among the Brazil fans at the Education City Stadium as they outnumber their Croatian rivals.

And for Neymar, it seems. The Brazil talisman takes some frustration out on Marcelo Brozovic with a kick out.

Antony is almost fish-hooked by Borna Sosa's stray hand as they challenge for a high ball.

This is what BBC commentator Guy Mowbray said about the Flamengo frontman when he picked him out as a player to watch before the tournament started:

While Brazil wanted to samba, Croatia are basically doing the robot. A rigid and an awkward tactic, but can be damn effective on a big night.

You have to applaud Croatia's defending, especially in the second half.

They have been so streetwise, knowing when to commit fouls and slow the game.

The interesting thing will be, will they do the same thing? They were not adventurous in the second half.

They do not want to be the team which makes a mistake at this point.
