Matt: France have been so underwhelming most of this tournament, but they are so clinical and resilient when it matters. Morocco need to seize the moment.
Josh: The French are trying everything they can to slow the game down and break up the Moroccan play. Can definitely see an equaliser coming.

It has been a great effort from Morocco.
They could have capitulated after losing their captain but they haven't - they have grown into the game.
They are still in this game.

Marcus Thuram, who is playing on the left with Kylian Mbappe in the centre, beats Achraf Dari with a clever jinking run and is fouled.

It was a lovely dummy from Kylian Mbappe and then block, but he was a yard or two offside.
France 1-0 Morocco
France's first menacing attack in ages but the offside flag goes up against Kylian Mbappe. Earlier in the move Jules Kounde looked like he was going to shoot from outside the box but passed instead before a bit of pinball in the box.

He'd been booked, I wonder if that was a factor.

I'm surprised at that substitution, Boufal had looked a threat all evening.
France 1-0 Morocco
I don't think anybody expected the game to have this pattern. Wave after wave of Moroccan attacks. Hugo Lloris is able to catch a cross.
France have just 22 minutes plus stoppages to hang on. I say just but that's a quarter of a game.

Yassir Drissi is a Franco-Moroccan financial consultant and Morocco supporter and his friend Adrien Latreille is supporting France
"I convinced my friend Adrien, who is a France supporter to come tonight in the 'enemy territory' to watch this match, in this Moroccan restaurant in Paris!" says Yassir.
"I am sure Morocco will catch up! It’s just the beginning. It would be crazy and historical if that happens. We still believe! Come on Morocco!
"I like this team for its combativity. We took a first goal because we were panicking but we will come back and we will fight.
"I would really like to see Morocco win and win the World Cup. I love France and respect it!
"Vive la France, but when it comes to football, my heart is Moroccan."

Rob: For all the total genius of Mbappe he needs to understand that occasionally he can run back and help the defenders. Just standing there and throwing up his hands doesn't actually stop an attack.
Paul: Love him but Mbappe hasn’t done much in this game apart from fall down. Did nothing against England either.

France bring on Marcus Thuram for their all-time top scorer Olivier Giroud. Interesting. More of a pacey wideman.

France are hanging on in there and the Morocco team are taking the game to France and testing their backline. Boufal and Ziyech have been prominent in this second half.

Antoine Griezmann has a fantastic appreciation for needing to do the hard work, especially for someone who we associate with scoring goals and winning games.

We can see here where the Moroccans are targeting their attacks.
Evidenced here in the average positions as well where Achraf Hakimi (purple two) is right up the pitch with Hakim Ziyech (purple seven), doubling up on France defender Theo Hernandez (black 22).
