Wow. This is one of the crunchiest tackles I've ever seen not penalised. Kylian Mbappe goes on a lovely run down the left and Sofyan Amrabat catches man and ball with a proper sliding tackle. Mbappe needs treatment. No free-kick. I'm not disputing about the decision, but you'd often see them given.

A good spell for Morocco here. What can the Atlas Lions do? They need to show a bit more than they did in the first half. Achraf Hakimi and Hakim Ziyech have crosses blocked.

Antoine Griezmann plays a lovely through ball to Kylian Mbappe but the France forward can't quite get onto it and clatters Morocco keeper Bono with the follow-through.

Attiat-Allah was really impressive against Portugal and got forward to good effect. He crossed the ball in for En-Nesyri for that tremendous header and he gives them good balance on that left hand side.

Antoine Griezmann drops back midway into his own half to win the ball. Kylian Mbappe beats PSG team-mate Achraf Hakimi on the wing and Jules Kounde's shot from distance is blocked.

Morocco lose their third defender since naming their starting line-up as Noussair Mazraoui is replaced by Yahya Attiat-Allah at the break.

Three injury doubts and none really worked out.

There were 20 previous occasions a team trailed at half-time in a World Cup semi-final. Only two of those progressed to the final - Argentina against Italy in 1990 (on penalties) and Croatia against England in 2018 (after extra time).

I've loved this, this is one of my favourite games of the World Cup. The crowd is brilliant and the atmosphere has been absolutely electric. If there is a Morocco goal in this game, we're going to extra time because the fans will be with them all the way.

The scissor-kick came through a lot of bodies so Hugo Lloris did really well. It was a very good save.

I thought it was a penalty on Sofiane Boufal, rather than a foul by him (28 mins).

I have enjoyed the game but the French are not playing as well as I wish they were. It's far too open, especially on the left hand side because Mbappe does not defend.

Rabiot not being there is a huge miss. Fofana is a good player but not at the level of Rabiot and you see what they miss without him being there . It's a bit too open for my liking but I will take the 1-0 lead at half-time.

    France 1-0 Morrocco

    Phil McNulty

Morocco could have been forgiven for thinking the fates were against them when they lost Nayef Aguerd to injury before kick-off, went behind, then lost Romain Saiss, who was clearly unfit.

    Not a bit of it.

They have responded with real character and plent of threat and why Sofiane Boufal was shown a yellow card when he was fouled by Theo Fernandez is a mystery to me. Penalty all day long in my book and it wasn't even looked at.

Expected goals so far this half, France are the black circles and Morocco are purple. The bigger the circle the better the chance (the yellow dot is Theo Hernandez's goal).

The figures say France's expected goals are at 1.19 while Morocco are at just 0.16.

Morocco looking dangerous coming forward at the end of that half. If they can keep that up after the break, don't rule out a comeback.

Three police officers on bicycles pull up outside the shisha cafe where about one hundred Morocco fans have congregated to watch the game.

Sweet cherry aromas waft around the cosy make-shift arena. A band sporadically strikes galvanizing rhythms.

One of the officers tells me, no one has a night off tonight.

A ‘neighbourhood father’ drops by wearing a curly orange wig teamed with a red and green Morocco scarf.

Approximately 400,000 Moroccans live in the Netherlands.

"This World Cup, our team, brings us together," Arum tells me. "And it gives us something to be proud of and celebrate."
