How many times in the last 10 minutes have we seen French players looking at each other baffled with their hands gesturing to where they thought each other were?

We'll have seven added minutes before Deschamps can make his team talk.

France have two minutes to get to half time, now we are looking to see what they've changed.

Deschamps will need the team talk of his life.

Di Maria is killing them. That ball has been on all day, just floated over Kounde's head. Kounde is doing his best out there but he just needs a bit of support if anything.

Let's all just remember that this is a very, very good France side.

Argentina are making them look utterly ordinary.

I bet you, there is going to be noise about the illness that rifled through their camp this week if this keeps going in the direction it has.

Take absolutely nothing away from Argentina, but France look a shadow of their usual selves.

Angel di Maria is absolutely on one here.

He has hugged the left touchline and come to life when the ball has been fed to him. France cannot cope.

  7. 'France are obviously struggling'published at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2022

I don't blame Didier Deschamps at all. He is looking at the same thing we are looking it. They are obviously struggling with something as a group and were carrying one too many players in my opinion.

It's a tough call because Giroud had given him so much in the tournament but he has had to make the call before half-time. It means Mbappe will go through the middle.

  8. France given no chance to create anythingpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December 2022

I'm struggling to think of a France game at this tournament where they have been harassed so much as soon as they get possession. There's been no time for them to build from the back, no time for them to find Antoine Griezmann to link the play to their forwards... and with Griezmann starved of the ball, there is no way of them getting it to Kylian Mbappe, or Olivier Giroud (when he was on the pitch).

They won't believe what they have been facing. Argentina have been brilliant but there is no way they would have expected this lack of intensity from France. They will be in shock on the pitch at the amount of freedom they have.

Someone ought to tell the France players that they are playing in the World Cup Final. They have been shocking so far.

I mean, Didier Deschamps had to do something. His side are getting schooled here. But it is a bold move.

    OH WOW!

France are making a double change before the break.

Olivier Giroud and Ousmane Demebele are going off.

Marcus Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani are on.

Argentina are running the show. France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has conceded twice and faced three shots on target.

Spot the strikes from the number 10 and number 11... goalscorers Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria.

I have never heard a sound like this.

Argentina fans have waited more than 30 years for this moment and they believe their wait for the World Cup is over.

The atmosphere is incredible and the Argentines have been brilliant.

But what has happened to France?

That is the comfort Argentina needed and deserved.

France have not thrown a punch. What they are doing needs to change as it is not working.

Talk about a team goal. Lovely nick round the corner from Messi and Mac Allister. Mac Allister is always a willing runner but can he find that final pass and he did.

It's the final ball that is the important one. So much concentration from Di Maria who bounces it into the ground. A completely team goal from Argentina and one they thoroughly deserve. They are in dreamland.

You can't fault this display from Argentina so far.

They've taken the game to the World Cup holders from the very first whistle.

France have hardly been out of their own half.

    Absolutely ruthless.

Di Maria gets a bit lucky maybe, but otherwise that is genius. Argentina are blowing France away.
