    Liverpool's turn to threaten!

Diogo Jota is in behind the City defence, but he hesitates for a crucial moment and allows his marker to slide in and stop him getting a clean shot away.

    Oh, so close!

City give Liverpool's defence the runaround, with Phil Foden driving forward down the left. His cross is near perfect for Raheem Sterling to hit first time and he would do just that but for Andy Robertson's vital touch.

Liz: Yes. I have lived long enough to see Jesus stay onside.

Dan: What is up with LFC today? I could deal with being whooped by City but we’re creating all the trouble ourselves.

Liverpool look rattled in defence. Virgil van Dijk should be a calming influence, but he is making mistakes. He has made three big mistakes; Alisson has had two kicks turn into chances for City.

It is not good enough if they want to win this game.

Jordan Henderson and Bernardo Silva are covering more ground than anyone out there. Both have just passed the 4.5km mark.

Silva's already assisted a goal and has completed 92% of his passes. It's poise as well as work rate from the Portuguese star and it's doing the business for the home side.

Bruce: Any danger of Fabinho keeping the ball.

David: This is pub level defending from both teams. Entertaining as heck though.

Liverpool can't say they haven't been warned; it is that pass again, everyone moves forward and Jesus makes the perfect run. It is exactly what Jurgen Klopp was unhappy with three or four minutes ago.

What a great pass an run; the finish is incredible. He can try that 100 times and the ball will go over.

    JESUS!

City retake the lead as Gabriel Jesus gets in behind the Liverpool defence to cushion a shot in off the underside of the bar.

The finish is lovely. The ball in to the middle for the Brazilian from Joao Cancelo is even better.

It is the game that just keeps on giving! Everything we wanted it to be!

    Kevin de Bruyne. Chef's kiss.

He is found on the right and his low ball is just magnificent. Right into the corridor of uncertainty. Joel Matip has to out it behind.

The resulting corner is headed away by Joel Matip.

The game is so compressed to the centre of the pitch. Half-way into each half, there is so much space. Anyone who can find that space will get a great opportunity.

Man City have been close a few times, Liverpool not yet really.

    Close!

Seriously, the quality levels of this game are ludicrous.

Joao Cancelo is found superbly on the left and he cuts inside before firing a low shot that deflects off Trent Alexander-Arnold and just past the post.

We said before the game, these are the two best sides in the country, possibly Europe, possible club football altogether. They have not disappointed us; it is a fantastic game of football with great intensity.

With the quality of these players, it really is a fantastic watch.

Speaking of Trent Alexander-Arnold, he has now registered more assists than any other player in the PL this season (12) and is just one short of equalling his best tally in the competition (13 in 2019-20).

Since the start of the 2018-19 season, Trent Alexander-Arnold has 44 Premier League assists, four more than any other player (Robertson with 40).
