  1. GAYFIELD - SOLD OUTpublished at 34 mins

A bumper crowd at Gayfield this evening, although we'll have to wait for the exact figures.

4,049 watched the Red Lichties take on Hibs in the Scottish Cup in January.

5,985 were in attendance twelve years ago as Rangers visited, also in Fourth Round action.

We'll see if any records are broken tonight.

Jack Hamilton again causing mischief up top. He controls on the edge of the area and then fires narrowly over from the edge of the box.

He has ten goals so far for Arbroath this campaign - and he only joined in January.

[The wind] adds a different dynamic to the game, no doubt about it. It does make it difficult when you're passing closer to the opposition's goal, which makes it all the more important to show composure. There has to be a level of composure shown, or else the game will never settle.

David Carson is into the book for wiping out Nicky Low in the midfield. The first time referee Willie Collum has reached for his pocket this evening.

Low is back to his feet, having avoided a large percentage of the contact.

    Chris Hamilton blazes wide!

Laid off to him on the edge of the box, he half-volleys too straight and it goes past the post. He's not scored so far this season. Still, it's all Arbroath so far.

Jack Hamilton certainly has the physical presence he'll need once he goes back to Livingston from Arbroath and he can find the net as well

    Arbroath 0-0 Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Arbroath are hunting the Inverness defenders like a pack of wolves. The visitors cannot string more than a few passes together to get out of their own territory.

Nicky Low had a great chance to slip Scott Stewart in, but he went right to Jack Hamilton who could only force another corner. It comes to nothing, but it's been a really nervy start from Inverness.

Inverness have been penned back in their own area so far. They aren't helped by the howling gale blowing in their faces.

On more than one occasion, clearances have been caught by the wind and gone straight up. This game could come down to who plays the conditions better.

Chris - one of the three Hamiltons in the Arbroath side - had his departure from parent club Heart of Midlothian confirmed earlier today, as his contract expires in the summer.

He'll have plenty of suitors, having helped Arbroath to these play-offs.

Inverness manager Billy Dodds also speaks to BBC Scotland before the match: "I don't know if we're going to get quality. I hope we do but the wind is blowing, as it does here, and the pitch is rock hard.

"We'll be trying to get the ball down and play because we've got players that can go and hurt Arbroath. We have to win the physical side first.

"I try to take the nerves away from my player. I want them to focus and concentrate.

"We're unlucky not to have a lead. There's 600/7000 Invernesians down here, so they'll make plenty of noise too.

Arbroath v Inverness Caledonian Thistle (19:45)

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell speaks to BBC Scotland before the game: "I'm just going to go and try and win the game. If you have over 5,000 people here, you've got a moral right to say that.

"If we get beat, it won't worry one little bit to me. But we've got a wee smell of it.

"We're sticking with the same team, but I've tinkered a wee bit with the shape. If things are going wrong, I'll switch the wind machine on!

"There's a fascinating smell about the whole place of Arbroath. It's a lovely place to be."

I don't think there's any question that Inverness, as the full time team, with their resources, are the favourites. There's a feel about the place and everything Arbroath have been doing that makes us think it's a 50-50 split. It's only Inverness that have beaten Arbroath here this season. I'm finding it hard to split both teams.

A tense affair up in IV1 ended as a goalless draw, despite both sides firing warning shots across the bows.

Dick Campbell's side had the better of the first-half opportunities but failed to adequately test keeper Mark Ridgers in the Inverness goal.

On-loan attacker Logan Chalmers rattled the crossbar in the first half in the closest attempt for the hosts, who dominated the second spell but similarly, could not find a way past Derek Gaston.

Arbroath v Inverness Caledonian Thistle (19:45)

As detailed on Tuesday night, the head-to-head leans slightly in favour of Inverness...

Four games were contested between the sides in the Scottish Championship with Thistle winning two, Arbroath winning one, and one goalless draw.

On the first day of the season, Inverness were 1-0 victorious, courtesy of a Shane Sutherland strike. Arbroath won the next fixture by the same scoreline, with the league’s top scorer Michael McKenna netting the winner.

That statement was then followed by a thumping 3-0 win for Inverness in the Highlands — Shane Sutherland, Reece McAlear, and Billy Mckay with the goals.
