As mentioned earlier, Kemar Roofe has won his race to be available for selection by Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

That means only fellow striker Alfredo Morelos, midfielder Ianis Hagi and centre-half Filip Helander, who have all been missing long-term, are not available.

Austria centre-half Martin Hinteregger is Eintracht Frankfurt's only absentee after Denmark winger Jesper Lindstrom won his battle to recover from injury.

Head coach Oliver Glasner confirmed last night: "He can play tomorrow. Now I just need to decide whether to play him from the start or not.”

From the searing heat of Seville to the Artic Circle, fans are preparing for tonight's Europa League final.

Grant Christie reckons he is Rangers’ most northerly follower.

He’s watching the game tonight from his home outside of Tromso in Norway, 350km North of the Artic Circle.

Grant runs a dog sledding business with the help of his Huskies, who also seem to be Bears.

He’s supported Rangers for 30 years and will be cheering them on as they battle the heat while he combats the cold of Tromso.

The anticipation and tension is mounting for the tens of thousands of Rangers fans in Seville and their counterparts from Frankfurt.

Tonight is one of the biggest matches in both clubs' histories.

Police expect up to 100,000 supporters of the Glasgow team to travel to the Spanish city for the Europa League final.

They will be joined by 50,000 fans of Eintracht Frankfurt.

The vast majority of those who have travelled do not have tickets for the game in the 42,700-capacity Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Only 9,500 tickets were originally sold to Rangers fans, although more are believed to have been made available in recent days.

Ticketless Rangers fans will be able to watch the match at the 57,000-capacity Estadio La Cartuja in the north of the city - where Celtic lost the 2003 Uefa Cup final to Porto.

  12. How Rangers reached Sevillepublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 18 May 2022

    Eintracht Frankfurt v Rangers (20:00)

Rangers' journey to the final has been more arduous than Eintracht's considering they started in the Champions League and the Europa League qualifiers.

    Qualifying round: Rangers 1-0 Alashkert

Rangers, then managed by Steven Gerrard, fell at the first hurdle in the Champion League qualifiers, knocked out by Malmo in the third qualifying round. Armenian outfit Alashkert awaited in the play-off round qualifier for the Europa League and 10-man Rangers edged to a 1-0 first-leg victory at Ibrox before playing out a goalless draw in Yerevan.

    Group stage

Consecutive defeats by Lyon and Sparta Prague gave Rangers a mountain to climb, but four points from their next two fixtures in back-to-back games with Brondby kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.

A two-goal victory over Sparta Prague would ensure passage from Group A.

Round of 32: Borussia Dortmund 4-6 Rangers

Rangers stunned Borussia in Germany as they went three up inside 49 minutes en route to a 4-2 win. A pulsating 2-2 draw at Ibrox secured progress.

Round of 16: Rangers 4-2 Red Star Belgrade

Rangers recorded a 3-0 Ibrox win over the Serbian champions, with a 2-1 defeat in Serbia not enough to deny the Scottish side.

    Quarter-final: Sporting Braga 2-3 Rangers

Rangers fell 1-0 behind in Portugal, but regained their composure in time for the second leg and a 3-1 victory at Ibrox secured a place in the last four.

    Semi-final: RB Leipzig 2-3 Rangers

A late Leipzig goal in Germany meant Rangers again had to come from behind - but another 3-1 win at Ibrox took them through.

While we're at it, how would a Rangers win tonight rate compare to what is generally regarded as the greatest achievement by a Scottish club team - Celtic's European Cup triumph of 1967.

Jock Stein's side beat Zurich of Switzerland, Nantes of France, Vojvodina of Yugoslavia and Dukla Prague of Czechoslovakia before that famous 2-1 win against Inter Milan.

Thumbs up if you think beating Eintracht Frankfurt would surpass that, thumbs down for no.

So here is the burning question...

When Rangers lifted the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972, they beat Rennes of France, Portugal's Sporting Lisbon, Italy's Torino, Bayern Munich, then of West Germany, before edging Dynamo Moscow of Soviet Union in the final.

How does that feat compare if Rangers beat Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville?

Would winning the Europa League be a better achievement? Thumps up for yes, thumbs down for no.

    Group stage

Oliver Glasner's side qualified directly for the group stage, starting with a draw against Fenerbache before three wins on the trot - against Antwerp and twice versus Olympiacos. Two draws against Antwerp and Fenerbache rounded off their group campaign.

Round of 16: Real Betis 2-3 Eintracht Frankfurt

The German side have already had a successful trip to Seville during the tournament, beating Betis 2-1. A 90th-minute goal in Germany took the tie into extra time, but Frankfurt were saved from penalties by a last-minute own goal.

    Quarter-final: Eintracht Frankfurt 4-3 Barcelona

Frankfurt had to see out a 1-1 home-leg draw with 10 men in the first-leg against favourites Barca. But they were victorious again in Spain, leading by three goals before the hosts hit two in the latter stages.

Semi-final: West Ham United 1-3 Eintracht Frankfurt

A 2-1 win in London put Frankfurt in the driving seat for the second-leg against David Moyes' side. Frankfurt won their home tie in the second-leg 1-0 against the 10-man visitors.

  18. 'My heart is definitely with Rangers'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 18 May 2022

    Eintracht Frankfurt v Rangers (20:00)

There's more from the son of Jock Wallace's former translator as Rangers eye a bit of history in the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

In 2009, they lost a Champions League group tie 1-0 to Sevilla there and, on tonight's final, Stuart Chipres adds: “This is the second time Rangers have been here. I was very fortunate to see them in a Champions League game against Sevilla, but this has come full circle for me.

"To have the opportunity to see Glasgow Rangers - with my past with Jock and his family - win the Europa League in my city, that would be a full circle sensation for me. I would love to see that. Nothing against the Germans, but my heart is definitely with Rangers.”

  19. Wallace brogue confused translatorpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 18 May 2022

    Eintracht Frankfurt v Rangers (20:00)

BBC Scotland's Steven Godden has spoken to Stuart Chipres, whose father Bob was former Rangers manager Jock Wallace’s translator when he led Seville for the 1986-87 season.

“When I was eight years old, my dad met Jock Wallace at a social event," he explains. "They hit it off and there was a friendship there right away. That is when Jock offered my dad the possibility of becoming a translator for the season.

“In the beginning, I remember him coming home and saying ‘I don’t understand a single word that is coming out of this man’s mouth’.

"For an American, used to American sports, having the opportunity to be part of a coaching staff of someone like Jock, that year – at training, travelling, conversations and dressing room talk - had to be a unique experience for my dad. I know he really misses that.”

  20. Eintracht's bad memory of Ayrshirepublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 18 May 2022

    Eintracht Frankfurt v Rangers (20:00)

Arguably, Kilmarnock's feat against Eintracht Frankfurt in their first year in European football is one of the German side's worst European memories.

Eintracht, who had lost 7-3 to Real Madrid in the famous 1960 European Cup final at Hampden, were 3-0 up from the first leg in the 1964 Fairs Cup.

And they looked to have killed off any Killie hopes of progressing to round two when they scored within two minutes at Rugby Park to make it 4-0.

But the 14,930 fans roared the hosts forward and Ronnie Hamilton netted twice, with Brian McIlroy, James McFadzean and John McInally also scoring to seal a sensational comeback.
