Can Scotland get the next goal? You might just see that affect the Irish team a little bit. But it's important that they keep the back door shut because Ireland are looking increasingly dangerous

    Republic of Ireland 2-0 Scotland

Alan Browne cuts out Andy Robertson's cross as Scotland try to conjour something before the break.

But again Ireland just deal with it well. They break up the pitch through Jason Knight and Ryan Christie comes in the with the cynical foul to stop the counter.

The Scotland midfielder gets a yellow card too.

That is an absolutely brilliant goal and link-up from the two strikers. Michael Obafemi gets it and Troy Parrot runs from deep and it's a wonderful pass to his strike partner. He just guides the header past Craig Gordon

Woah, that was exceptional vision from Michael Obafemi - and he had the craft to lift the ball deftly into the onrushing Troy Parrott's path too.

Great link-up between two of the players Stephen Kenny drafted into his team for today's game.

After the last couple of games, the home fans can't believe what they're seeing here.

Anthony Ralston has been Scotland's best player again so far. He skins two men and whips in a cross, which is headed behind for a corner.

Scott McTominay's delivery is overhit by miles though and Ireland survive.

Well, it wasn't the prettiest goal, but the Irish fans will definitely take it.

Goals are rare enough for the Republic in the Nations League so Stephen Kenny will be delighted that Alan Browne was able to force the ball home.

Kenny spoke after the Ukraine game about the need for Ireland to start taking advantage when they get into good positions - and it was James McClean's teasing cross, off his weaker right foot and aimed at the lively Michael Obafemi, that brought about that corner.

The Irish fans haven't had much to shout about recently, but that goal has got this place rocking.

This has come right out of Scotland's own playbook. It's the back-post corner and Shane Duffy doing what he does well. He's not going to score from there, all he has to do is knock it back into the danger area. They've got a taste of their medicine. They're on their heels when Browne is alive

It's so scrappy but Ireland don't care!

Shane Duffy wins the ball in the air at the back post from the corner, and Browne is quickest to react and bundle to ball home.

Grant Hanley was caught on his heels. The Aviva erupts!

Scott McKenna to the rescue for Scotland. James McClean fizzes a cross to the back post, and Michael Obafemi thinks he has a free header, only for the Scotland centre-back to nudge it behind.

It's Scotland's turn to threaten now!

Anthony Ralston outmuscles James McClean on the byline and whips a fantastic cross in, which eventually falls to Andy Robertson whose shot is blocked.

Moments later and Shane Duffy gives the ball away playing out from the back and John McGinn gets a shot away from the edge of the box.

It's tame though and Caoimhin Kelleher saves comfortably.

  20. Postpublished at 10 mins

Grant Hanley gets himself in all sorts of trouble after a poor first touch, and the rapid Micheal Obafemi closes him down and robs the ball.

A little back heel from the Swansea striker tees up James McClean for the cross, but he blazes it behind.
