  1. HALF-TIME St Mirren 0-1 Motherwellpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 31 July 2022

Motherwell head for the tunnel one goal to the good - and St Mirren will be left wondering how that happened.

A couple of missed chances and a fine save from Liam Kelly kept the side's level until a hand ball gave Kevin van Veen the chance to break the deadlock shortly before the break.

Interesting team talks ahead for the two managers.

I did say all those missed chances for St Mirren would come back and bite them! Motherwell have been second best, but with Saints' dominance, they haven't done anything with it

If you see a better save all season, wow! It's outrageous, ridiculous, it's out the top drawer!

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 33mins

    St Mirren 0-0 Motherwell

    What a save!

Jonah Ayunga is probably sure he is scoring as he rises unmarked to meet a Ryan Strain cross.

The striker's header from 12 yards looks to be heading past Liam Kelly, but the Motherwell goalkeeper reaches out to palm it down and still has the presence of mind to block a follow-up effort on the ground.

  9. Postpublished at 30mins

    St Mirren 0-0 Motherwell

Another glaring opportunity missed by the hosts.

The ball is bobbling about in a sea of legs just outside the Motherwell penalty box, it falls to Ryan Strain, but the right-back signed from Maccabi Haifa lashes his shot over the crossbar.

  10. 'He gets it all wrong'published at 15:31 British Summer Time 31 July 2022

    St Mirren 0-0 Motherwell

    Steven Thompson
Former St Mirren striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It is a fantastic run. I can tell you, Jonah Ayunga has pace! The ball bounced kindly for him and you're just expecting him to hit it low across the goalkeeper, but he gets it all wrong and sends it high into the crowd. It's the best opportunity of the match by some distance

  11. Postpublished at 27mins

    St Mirren 0-0 Motherwell

First clear-cut chance of the match falls the way of St Mirren's Jonah Ayunga.

A long ball over the top takes a flick off the Kenyan striker's head, he shows his pace by leaving the defence trailing, but the man signed from Morecambe this summer slices wildly wide from 12 yards.

  12. Postpublished at 25mins

    St Mirren 0-0 Motherwell

After the drama of that head knonck, there's not much in the way of goal action to talk about, with the accuracy of passes into the box fairly lamentable.
