I’m delighted for Jill Scott. Great to see her with a Euro winners medal. A great servant to the game, thoroughly deserved.

I can't lie, it went on pretty late last night so I have a bit of a headache but I feel great today.

It's almost surreal and it's very hard to take in. I thought England were getting a bit tired towards the end but the thing is they found a way.

Sarina Wiegman has brought a calmness, a tactical awareness, she has brought everything to the team. England have dealt with everything at this tournament and that is down to the manager.

They have created a bond that will last forever and ever.

Grassroots football club Knowle FC, near Solihull, says England's success in Women's Euro 2022 has already been having an impact.

"We've had so many girls showing more interest," says Natalie "Natty" Royal, a former Aston Villa player who coaches girls at the club in the West Midlands.

"It's really putting women's football on the map," Royal has said.

They actually have people to look up to on the TV - some of them are probably too young to know how amazing that is

    "Natty" Royal, Grassroots football coach

As well as managing the ladies first team, Royal coaches the under-9s at the club alongside Marian Byrne, a former Birmingham City player. They both have daughters following in their footsteps and sharing their passion for football.

Byrne recalled how she had to "always fight to play football" as a young girl. "It wasn't that long ago... seeing how it's transformed has been phenomenal," she says.

She added that as well as encouraging more girls to play football, she hoped England's success would also lead to more financial support for the women's game.

Former England striker Wayne Rooney had a dramatic start to life as a Major League Soccer coach with DC United on Sunday.

Trailing for 82 minutes after conceding an early opener, DC United levelled in the first minute of stoppage time before grabbing a winner in the fifth.

New signing Ravel Morrison played the full game.

Rooney left Derby last month amid Chris Kirchner's failed takeover of the club. He spoke to former assistant and current Rams interim boss Liam Rosenior before Derby's 1-0 win over Oxford on Saturday.

Just when you thought the women's game was at its pinnacle, the Lionesses have taken it up another gear.

I did an interview with ABC News in Australia at 11:30 last night and I was asked if England are favourites for the World Cup next year?

Yes, they are, because it's scary to think how good Sarina Wiegman is going to get this team.
