Middlesbrough start this match in the Championship relegation zone.
Chris Wilder's men were one of the pre-season favourites for promotion but, albeit having currently played one game less, they are 11 points behind second-placed Norwich.
However, victory tonight could lift them as high as 14th, three points off the top six in a very tight Championship table.
Rotherham have made a strong start to their latest foray into the second tier after bouncing straight back up from League One last season
Paul Warne's men will go fifth if they win tonight.

Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder makes three alterations from the side that started the 3-2 home defeat by Cardiff in midweek, with goalkeeper Zack Steffen, defender Anfernee Dijksteel and forward Duncan Watmore all coming back in.
Rotherham are forced into a change as defender Grant Hall is on loan from Boro and is therefore ineligible. Cameron Humphreys takes his spot.

Big win for the managerless hosts.
Jordan Rhodes' goal and Lee Nicholls' penalty save from Callum Robinson sees the Terriers claim just a second league win of the season.
Watford 2-2 Sunderland
Jewison Bennette's late leveller for Sunderland means the points are shared at Vicarage Road.
Luton 2-0 Blackburn
Two goals in ten second half minutes are enough for Luton to claim the points at home to Blackburn.
