There's plenty of signs of encouragement and they'll keep going and trying to open them up.

It's totally different to the game on Tuesday night, however.

That weak George Saville header was counted as an effort on target so at least we've had one. But it wasn't really.

Norwich, once again, dominating in all the metrics - but the one that matters remains level.

That first half seemed to drag on longer than a baseball game, in fairness (apologies, fans of the diamond but it's not for me).

Some news that came in pre-kick-off at Carrow Road today.

Norwich City have called a general meeting for 12 September for shareholders to vote on whether to appoint Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio as a director at the club.

Attanasio attended their final home game of the season last term and has owned the Major League Baseball side since 2004.

You can read more about that announcement here.

It's fair to say there's been a bit more action off the pitch than on it at Carrow Road today with a bit of boardroom business pending...

It's been a different sort of challenge tonight.

They've found it difficult to find opportunities against MIllwall than they have against other teams in the Championship this season.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:48 British Summer Time 19 August 2022

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

Well, I could say it's been a classic Championship first half. But I'd be lying.

Kenny McLean sent a free header wide from an early Norwich corner and that's probably been the best of the chances.

Millwall, whose away form has been questionable over the past couple of seasons, will not care a jot though. Job half done for them.

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

There will be just one minute of stoppage time.

  9. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

That's better from Norwich as this time Max Aarons' cross picks out Josh Sargent and his acrobatic effort is blocked by Millwall defender Shaun Hutchinson before the Lions clear.

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

George Saville meets a deep Millwall free-kick with a header that loops towards goal and drops for Tim Krul to collect.

Is that an effort on target? Not sure it counts. If it does, it's the first one from either side.

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

Having seen their efforts at incision repelled by the Millwall defence, Norwich have resorted to hopeful crosses into the box.

The results have not been great.

For all their possession, Lions keeper Bartosz Bialkowski has been a spectator.

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

The more Norwich push, the more Millwall should get chances on the counter.

But they have to make more of them than Scott Malone just did, with a cross straight into the arms of Tim Krul.

Right, what number minute do we have on the Teemu Pukki substitution sweepstake?

    I'm going 58.

You've got to give Millwall credit, they've not got off Norwich and they've been in their faces.

It doesn't come from that corner as Shaun Hutchinson clears with a towering header.

  16. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

Marcelino Nunez fires well wide from the edge of the box and now Max Aarons forces a corner.

The Carrow Road is relatively quiet, waiting for something, anything, to cheer.

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

Norwich haven't had the results yet this season but they have dominated games territory wise.

They are controlling this one to some degree but to Millwall's credit, they are affording them very few sights of the Lions' goal.

George Saville clears a Max Aarons cross as if to prove the point.

  18. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Millwall

A goal for anyone would be welcome to break the deadlock here as things have really quietened down.

Benik Afobe tries to produce a glancing header from a left-wing cross but it hits the top of his back instead and flies over the bar.

Millwall showing a bit more ambition now.

Twice in a row they've done that and won one and drawn one.

The last time Dean Smith managed in the Championship, he led Aston Villa to promotion.

Can he lead Norwich to yet another bounce-back into the top flight?

Fancy the Canaries to go straight back up? Thumbs up for yes, readers. Thumbs down for no, they are staying in the second tier.
