Dundee United head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Scotland: "Overall, we're nowhere near the levels we need to be at.

"The opening period of the game, first 10 minutes, we looked weak. Our response was okay. The start to the second half again is desperately poor and then the game becomes a struggle.

"We've had a really sore week, a really sore four days. You find out more about yourself in these types of situation. As a squad and as a collective, we're going to have to dig deep ahead of next week."

Robbie Neilson is full of confidence ahead of Thursday's trip to face Zurich in the first leg of their Europa League play-off against a side who lie bottom of the Swiss league after today's 1-1 draw away to Winterthur.

"They are having a difficult start to the season, but they are still Swiss champions and it's going to be a very difficult game," the Hearts boss tells BBC Scotland.

"They have a lot international players and we are going to be at our best to get something out the game, but we've got a good group here with some very good players and we believe we can go there and put on a good show."

Asked about defender Alex Cochrane withdrawal through injury, Neilson adds: "Alex will be fine for Thursday."

Robbie Neilson was still critical of his side, despite the comfortable 4-1 scoreline against United.

"I thought we started very well, got our goal in the first minute and then for the next 44 minutes we weren't at the races to be honest," the Hearts manager tells BBC Scotland.

"We didn't get close enough, we were slack in our play and it wasn't until the second half when we showed what we're about.

"We made a couple of changes tactically at half-time, that allowed us to settle into it."

Here's how the table looks at the end of weekend three in this season's Scottish Premiership.

Celtic go top, leading Rangers on goal difference, with both clubs on maximum points.

Hearts climb above Motherwell into third while today's beaten sides - Dundee United and Kilmarnock - are 10th and 11th, respectively. Ross County, with three straight defeats, are one point adrift at the bottom.

Another two Scottish Premiership games, another 10 goals, with Celtic and Hearts coming out on top.

Hearts get an ideal warm-up for their Europa League play-off with Zurich while a thoroughly miserable week comes to an end for Dundee United.

It's seven points out of nine for Hearts as they go third, while Dundee United remain 10th in the Scottish Premiership with a single point.

Almost a second for Dundee United as Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon makes a terrific save to keep out Ian Harkes' header, with Steven Fletcher's rebound effort into the side netting.

Aziz Behich and Josh Ginnelly tussle for possession and tempers fray somewhat. The officials intervene and a Dundee United free-kick is the decision.

United captain Ryan Edwards is booked for dissent.

Hearts have used all their substitutes and Cammy Devlin takes a bit of a knock. The midfielder goes off for treatment but should come back on.
