Signs of frustration now from the home players and fans. They know they should have made more of the dominance they have had. And Palace are starting to win tackles and make it a bit niggly in places.

Liverpool's fans shout "shoot" so Virgil van Dijk obliges and is well off target from 35 yards. Jurgen Klopp turns to the crowd and puts his finger to his lips.

There is Harvey Elliott, darting into the box to try and fire a shot but ex-Reds player Nathaniel Clyne tracks him and times his intercept well.

Tony Onduli: Elliott looks like he'll relish the opportunity to step up. A great start from the Redmen!

James Hammond: Work-rate already much better than last weekend, definitely feeding off the home crowd. Elliott looking like a man possessed.

Harvey Elliott is a bundle of energy in the middle for Liverpool. He is buzzing around, winning tackles, picking up loose balls. Alongside him, James Milner is exuding the kind of calm authority you would expect.

Fleurz: The longer this stays 0-0 I can see Crystal Palace nicking a goal.

Saidmadrid: Liverpool dominating the ball and the game, they need to capitalise.

The assault continues but after being picked out at the back post by Mohamed Salah, James Milner can only head tamely to Vicente Guaita.

Virgil van Dijk find a yard of space inside the Palace half. He goes for glory from about 45 yards, but slices his optimistic shot wide.

Palace will be just fine with that.

And there is Trent again, picking out Mohamed Salah with a peach of a low ball into the box. It is the kind of chance the Egyptian gobbles up, but this one he puts past the post.

Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to test this Palace defence, through both driven shots and wicked, whipped crosses.

Liverpool still look the far more likely to score.

Nathaniel Clyne does really well to stop Andrew Robertson getting to a ball to the far post.

Palace will be pretty happy with the way they have seen off this opening 20 minutes. Liverpool were all over them for the first 10 of it, but they've calmed it all down since. The home crowd not quite as lively now.

The flag is up for one of those controversial ones in which a move is allowed to continue. It was tight against Eberechi Eze but he looks off. Alisson pulls off the save he needs to and then the assistant ref sticks his flag up.

Now Anfield thinks there should be a penalty as Joachim Anderson comes over to tackle Luis Diaz and try to clear a bouncing ball. It doesn't yield a spot kick but Diaz is able to loop a shot towards Vicente Guaita, which the Palace keeper saves.

Jordan Ayew goes to ground. He ducked in slightly for a header and felt James Milner's boot to win the ball was high. The referee disagrees, as does most of Anfield.

Darwin Nunez's pace and ability to play on the shoulder of the last defender means the ball over the top is always an option. The forward is found in behind the Palace defence, but his low driven ball is too close to Vicente Guaita.

Mohamed Salah is hanging to the far touchline on the right. He has been found a number of times by that big diagonal ball and is terrorising poor Tyrick Mitchell.

No respite for Crystal Palace. Liverpool have them penned back with intense pressure and width. Darwin Nunez should have put Liverpool ahead and there have been some desperate blocks in that Palace defence.

Palace finally get into the final third, but Tyrick Mitchell's cross into the middle is cut out and off Liverpool go again.
