Joel Ward goes into the book for a late tackle on Luis Diaz to stop him breaking. It draws huge cheers from the home crowd, who are screaming for every decision.

Odsonne Edouard gives a way a dangerous free-kick.

Kostas Tsimikas swings the ball into the box, but it flies in front of everyone in red.

Palace need to get their heads back on now. This game has swung back and forwards in such a way it has left them scrambled.

The mood in here is utterly transformed.

As are the home side. They are full of belief, even with 10 men. The power of a well-timed goal.

With Anfield bouncing, here come some home changes.

Joe Gomez is on for Phillips. Kostas Tsimikas and Jordan Henderson are also sent into action replacing James Milner and Andy Robertson.

Palace also make a change. Jordan Ayew takes his time heading off, with Odsonne Edouard replacing him.

It looked like Nunez had stuck his head in a bit naughtily on Anderson just before the headbutt that brought the red. It must have been that for which the Palace defender shoved him. He was booked for that.

So stupid from Liverpool's big-money signing.

This just got a whole lot harder for Liverpool.

Oh wow! Darwin Nunez is off!

Joachim Anderson is down from an off-the-ball incident and the ref shocks Anfield by showing a straight red card to the Reds striker.

Here is the replay... oh he absolutely deserves it. Anderson shoves him, but the striker sticks his forehead on the defender's jaw!

Eberechi Eze is a really good player. So smart in the positions he takes up and always willing to drive forward with intent. He finds Wilfried Zaha in the Liverpool half, but the return ball is blocked to end the attack.

Again, Liverpool give the ball away, this time through Nat Phillips' poor pass. They are fortunate that Wilfried Zaha cannot keep the ball towards him in on the near side.

More discontent.

Liverpool twice give the ball away, firstly to set up a Palace attack that comes to nothing and then to halt a potential attack of their own.

Jordan Ayew then goes down holding his head, meaning the game is stopped. That went down well, as you can imagine.

Wilfried Zaha can feel a bit aggrieved not to have a free-kick on the right side of Liverpool's box. He flicks the ball past Nathaniel Phillips, who appears to hold the Palace forward to bundle him to floor. The referee is unmoved.

The combination of being behind and decisions not going their way has made this home crowd very tetchy.

There is Darwin Nunez, with a big opportunity!

He is put in by Mohamed Salah but doesn't take the shot immediately and it allows Joel Ward to slide in and block. There are calls for handball, but a check by VAR yields no reason to overturn the on-field call of play on.

Liverpool will want to see more of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez this half. For periods of the first they failed to make an impact on the game.

Boos again for Vicente Guaita as he dwells over clearing the ball. He won't get away with any blatant time wasting. Officials have been instructed tom come down on that this season.

A big 45 minutes coming up.

Liverpool's 20-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League is under threat. A return of one point from these opening two games is not what they wanted.

Palace are going to need to defend for their lives.

There's no personnel changes for either side.

Liverpool have had the pressure and the chances but that clinical piece of finishing by Wilfried Zaha gives Crystal Palace the lead.

The Kop will be expectant as Liverpool attack in the second half but they must find that cutting edge.
