  1. 'It's difficult to take'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 27 August 2022

FT: Man City 4-2 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze: "It's a difficult one to take. It wasn't enough in the second half. We were getting our chances. When you sit off against a team like this then eventually they will take their chances.

"You know if you soak up the pressure it won't be enough eventually with the players they have got. We worked until the end, put in a good performance but it wasn't enough. We did well in the first half but it's a difficult one.

"We know that if we keep making performances like that we will win more games than not. Hard one but we keep going."

  3. 'We had a point to prove'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 27 August 2022

    FT: Liverpool 9-0 Bournemouth

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke to Mark Chapman on BBC Radio 5 Live about the Reds nine goal thriller against Bournemouth.

"It was very special out there today, we took our chances and it was fantastic from the lads."

On whether it was a response to the Manchester United defeat, he said: "It definitely was, anytime you get beat you want to come out and win your next game.

"We had a point to prove after three disappointing games but the main thing was to come out and win and we did it in fantastic fashion."

On Carvalho scoring today, he added: "He's gelled well with the lads and he's got the world at his fee. I'm sure he'll go on to do amazing things.

"For him it's about pushing a place into the team and making an impact and today he's bagged himself a goal.

"He's built himself a really good foundation for this season so hopefully he can go on and push further."

  5. 'It's a warning to concede goals'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 27 August 2022

FT: Man City 4-2 Crystal Palace

    Manchester City

More from Manchester City striker Erling Haaland to BBC MOTD: "It was a proud moment for me and my family and yes I'm happy. Amazing feeling to score a hat-trick.

"It's about trying to continue what we are doing. It was about small adjustments and we did that and got results. We had to listen to the manager.

"It's a mentality that we trust each other and we know the chances will come. It's about keeping going. In the end we scored four goals and that's a really good thing.

"It's a warning that we have to become better, training hard and develop. When we play at home we shouldn't concede early goals. It's about working harder."

FT: Man City 4-2 Crystal Palace

    Manchester City

Manchester City hat-trick hero Erling Haaland: "Really good feeling. A proud moment for me and my family. We keep going. These games are why I'm here - to turn things around when there are difficult times.

"[My dad] will probably say he had more goals in the Premier League than me so I will chase that!

"In the end it was about small adjustments. We were almost there sometimes in the first half so it was about getting it done. This is what we do. It's a good feeling.

"It's really important to have this kind of mentality and we should get it even more. There is more we can do on set-pieces. We have to keep working hard.

"It's not easy to come to a new club, a new country so it has been a good start. I think we are all [his family] proud today."

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Nine goals and it could have been more. No exaggeration.

12, 13, 14; it could have been that many if Mo Salah took his personal chances.

Everything went perfect for Liverpool, Bournemouth will hope they'll never have a game like this again.

  18. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 27 August 2022

    Chelsea 2-1 Leicester

A great three points for Chelsea after Conor Gallagher was sent off after only 28 minutes when it was goalless.

But two goals from Raheem Sterling - his first goals for the club following his move from Manchester City - gave Chelsea control in the early part of the second half.

Leicester, who had a goal disallowed in the first half, fought back and got a goal through Harvey Barnes. Ayoze Perez hit the bar late on for the visitors, but it's Chelsea who hang on to win it. Great entertainment at Stamford Bridge.
