    Glenn Murray
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Football Focus

This year is the Erling Haaland show, he's fast physical, powerful and the most impressive thing is his understanding of the game, he knows where to run and where to be.

With him only being 22 that youthful energy and hunger is still there and he could do anything he wants as long as he stays injury free.

Wolves manager Bruno Lage has confirmed striker Raul Jimenez will be out of action for 'a few weeks' as he recovers from a groin injury, triggered by playing three games in a week after missing all pre-season due to a knee problem.

Jimenez has been picked for Mexico's forthcoming friendlies and he will be allowed to travel.

But, according to Lage, he has no chance of playing.

"I want all the players to play for the national team," said the Wolves boss. "He goes. I am 100% sure he will not play."

  6. 'We are here to prove ourselves'published at 12:23 British Summer Time 17 September 2022

Wolves v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Wolves

Wolves boss Bruno Lage tells BT Sport: "We cannot forget the competition is about scoring goals and winning points. It is good to have the three points but I think we have deserved more. The past is the past, now it is important what we have done in the last two weeks and how we have prepared.

"Diego Costa cannot be involved, he is not ready to compete and not fit. We have three strikers but all three strikers cannot be involved in the game.

"Adama Traore is also injured, he has some problems so cannot be involved in the game.

"Man City are one of the best teams in the competition and the world. Them and Liverpool, who we didn't play them last week, but play City today. This is the kind of challenge when you are watching on TV you want to be involved in. I told the players this is not a test, it is another opportunity. We need to put our fans behind us and support against a top team and brilliant manager. We are here to prove ourselves and the game comes in a good moment.

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

They need to understand, get the ball to Erling Haaland in any vicinity whatsoever. Does it matter that they play a slightly different way? No, as I can’t see an area where he isn’t strong.

If you want to go direct, if you want to go into the inside areas with inverted full-backs, if you want to do intricate passing to the byline… it doesn’t matter! All of them work for Haaland.

  8. Wolves 'one of toughest opponents'published at 12:18 British Summer Time 17 September 2022

Wolves v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola tells BT Sport: "We try to always select the best team but you never know what is going to happen. In the last game the impact from the players from the bench was important. Sometimes players are more tired, there are many reasons.

"Of course Jack Grealish is an important player, there is a lot of light on him but we see him everyday, how he behaves in training and on and of the pitch. He is an exceptional player.

"Wolves are one of the toughest opponents since Nuno Espirito Santo was here, they played five at the back but they have six Portuguese up front with a lot of quality and pace. In defence they have order, all working well together."

It's been some start to life in the Premier League for the Norwegian superstar.

Erling Haaland has been named Premier League Player of the Month for August.

Haaland scored nine goals throughout the month of August, including a double on his Premier League debut at West Ham United and a solitary strike at Newcastle.

The forward then netted back-to-back hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, breaking the Premier League record for most goals scored in a player’s first five games in the competition.

But they drew at Aston Villa in their previous game so could go successive Premier League matches without a win for the first time since December 2020.

It has been a frustrating first few months at Manchester City for midfielder Kalvin Phillips since his summer move from Leeds.

Phillips has been restricted to three substitute appearances so far, amounting to less than 20 minutes' action.

However, despite coming on in stoppage time during Wednesday's Champions League win against Borussia Dortmund, Phillips is not involved today.

Diego Costa is not considered fit enough even for a place on the bench at Molineux.

I am told it is still too early for him and the former Chelsea man has work in front of him to be in good enough condition to do himself justice in the Premier League.

He has not played since leaving Atletico Mineiro in January.

The sun is shining but it's a chilly day in the Midlands.

City boss Pep Guardiola - with trainers on but no socks - is already sitting in the dugout an hour before kick-off.

There's a lone voice that has been echoing around Molineux for the last five minutes, with a kid shouting "Pep. Pep. Pep."

He really needs to get up and give him a selfie.
