It couldn't have been a better start for Arsenal, who sit top of the table with six wins from seven games.

But they have been leaking goals at the back at home, having gone eight top-flight matches without a clean sheet at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta has a good record in north London derbies, going unbeaten in all seven in the league and the cup - both as a player (W3, D2) and a manager (W2).

Can he guide Arsenal to another win today?

Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign 18-year-old Garang Kuol from Central Coast Mariners, with the Australian forward joining the club in January.

"It's unreal. As a young boy in Australia, the Premier League is the main thing that everyone watches but nobody actually thinks they'll reach those heights," said Kuol.

"To be one of those people, to be in the position I am, it's amazing."

There can be few coaches who will have had a more difficult start to life as a Premier League manager than the one Roberto de Zerbi is about to embark on.

The 43-year-old Italian takes charge of Brighton for the first time today with a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, and it doesn't get any easier after that.

Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea are three of the opponents De Zerbi will face in his five games after the Reds, making for an incredibly tough start for someone hoping to prove quickly to Brighton fans that there is life after Graham Potter.

But for De Zerbi it is a challenge he embraces as he looks to make a name for himself in the Premier League.

  9. 'Spurs don't have to play well to win'published at 11:23 British Summer Time 1 October 2022

    Arsenal v Tottenham (12:30 BST)

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker and BBC pundit

Arsenal have started the season so well, winning six out of seven league games. Their one defeat came at Manchester United, and they didn't deserve to lose there.

Tottenham are only a point behind them, though. Yes, they have been slightly fortunate with some of their results but that just shows they don't have to play well to win.

Spurs also have Son Heung-min up and running after his hat-trick off the bench against Leicester before the international break. It was a masterclass from Antonio Conte to wait and bring him on.

You could make a case for either team here, but my gut feeling is to go with Arsenal - and for there to be lots of goals.

It's at Emirates Stadium, and I think the Gunners will take the game to Tottenham.

Spurs like that, because they are at their very best on the counter-attack, but I think Arsenal will get at them.

    Prediction: 3-2
