  2. 'I didn't like what we did in the second half'published at 22:46 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes speaking to Match of the Day: "I was happy with the score [up to 53 minutes], not with the performance. I thought we gave Arsenal too much in the first half.

"They're a really good side but I wanted us to challenge them better. We had to keep it up but we gave away a couple of dreadful goals.

"We've got to get back at it and find some of our best form. We've not been far off it. Defensively we've been OK but I didn't like what we did in the second half."

  3. 'We were fortunate to be 1-0 up'published at 22:45 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes tells Amazon: "Arsenal played really well. We were 1-0 up at half-time and fortunate to be. We defended well and in the end the goals we conceded were incredibly disappointing. You cannot fault Arsenal, they played well.

"We were on the break and Said Benrahma underhits a pass to Declan Rice. We turned the ball ourselves and Martin Odegaard should not have had the chance to get the shot away. That goal gave them a lift."

On Arsenal's title chances: "We saw Leicester City win the league so it is not to say you cannot do it. Arsenal have a good side, good players but Manchester City are waiting out there. Most people will say they are a step above others.

"We have played well in a lot of the games, even today and we maybe could have made it 2-0. I was more disappointed in the way we conceded the second and third goals. We had opportunities to clear it for that last one and we didn't. We can be hard to beat and resilient, we needed to be in the second half and we weren't."

On whether West Ham are in a fight against relegation: "I have been looking upwards, we have good players and ones who can compete right at the top. We need to start turning it into points and there have been others game where we should have taken more from them. Tonight I didn't like the way we defended in the second half."

On January transfer window signings: "I wouldn't expect that to happen, we probably spent most of our money in the summer. Unless we get a serious injury, I don't expect us to do much business."

On facing Brentford, Leeds, Wolves and Everton next: "A hugely important [run]. We have a good side and need to try picking up some points."

  6. The crowd was incredible - Artetapublished at 22:34 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to Match of the Day: "I'm delighted with the result and performance because I thought we deserved to win the game."

On the penalty for West Ham's goal: "It was a single action, we didn't defend the direct play well enough and then the referee made the decision from there. Then we showed composure and never panicked and did what to had to do to earn the right to win the game.

"We scored at the perfect time and the crowd was incredible, also in the moment we conceded the goal. They kept on believing. When we scored it got loud and we generated the momentum we needed."

On the injured Gabriel Jesus: "Gabriel is still around the team still and he's having an impact on the pitch even though he's not playing. He's helping Eddie and I'm delighted for him [for his goal]. He showed last season as well that when we need him, he's always there."

  8. 'Arsenal smothered us all over pitch'published at 22:28 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham captain Declan Rice tells Amazon: "It is a tough one. In the first half we didn't have much of the ball but stopped them and had a plan. It is like Manchester City, in the end one of their chances will create something with their free-flowing football. They smothered us all over the pitch."

Asked if they will be title winners: "100%. They are a top team, you can see they are coached incredibly well. They have a young squad with attacking talent and can go the whole way, that is for sure.

"The results [are missing for West Ham]. There are games where we have played unbelievably well and not go the result, we have created chances in other games and not put the ball in the back of the net. In the Premier League that is the main thing. There is a little gap arriving now and we are finding ourselves at the bottom of the league. It is a bump in the road we need to overcome."

Asked if West Ham are in a fight against relegation: "Nah. I don't think it is. Every team has a blip but it is down to me as captain to keep pushing everyone and keep giving 100% on the pitch like everyone else to get the results. There are so many games to go, we still believe we are are a top team. We need to stop talking about it and need to show it.

"With the signings we have made, the quality is there. Now it is down to us to do it at both ends of the pitch."

  9. 'I just gave Nketiah a big hug'published at 22:25 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking to Amazon Prime: "We showed a lot of composure and quality. We didn't start to play the game they wanted to play, we kept pushing, believing and deserved the win."

On Eddie Nketiah: "I just gave him a big hug because he totally deserved that with the play he played. He showed his strength, quality and timing, the composure of the finish. It was an outstanding performance from him.

"He has been trying in the last few games and has the capacity to score. We see it every day in training and that will give him confidence."

  12. 'There's a real unity and connection with the fans'published at 22:17 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Eddie Nketiah speaking to Amazon Prime: "It was a great restart. I think all the boys were at it today, firing, and it was nice for me to come in and contribute. It was good to pick up from where we left off and we want to continue that run. The atmosphere here was amazing tonight.

"We were very dominant today, we were just lacking that final pass. But we kept going, were really aggressive with the counter-press, and once we got one we could all feel the atmosphere of the stadium behind us so we were always going to go on and get the rest.

"It's been amazing this season. There's a real unity and connection with the fans and we want to build on it. We want to keep pushing and finish as high as possible, and we're in great form at the moment."

On his goal: "I turned a couple of times in the first half and got clipped. Then Martin [Odegaard] played a lovely ball to me, I felt the defender so I rolled him and thankfully there was a good finish at the end."

On replacing the injured Gabriel Jesus: "There's pressure any time you play for Arsenal Football Club. The standards are always high. Gabri's done a great job but I'm not here to replace him, I'm here to be my own player and hope to be the best version of myself. We wish him a speedy recovery, we need him back as soon as [possible]. It was nice we could get the win and that he was here to celebrate with us."

Arsenal scorer Bukayo Saka on Amazon Prime: "The second half was much better than the first, the first game back you are getting into your rhythm. We had a lot of possession in the first half but then we were more effective.

"We all know how important today was and we are all focused on the same objective: winning every game.

"The home fans gave us everything we needed and we delivered."
