Arsenal came so close to the title last season and Euro 2022-winning captain Leah Williamson said that hurt her and has given them more determination this time around.

Jonas Eidevall has added Sweden forward Lina Hurtig to the squad from Juventus, which is a good signing, but rivals Chelsea have strengthened even more.

Arsenal missed out on a few targets and a lot of their players won't have had much pre-season due to being on international duty.

That could be where they fall short again - do they have the squad depth to rotate?

The atmosphere has been building around Emirates Stadium since this morning. We're expecting to see a record crowd today with 51,000 tickets sold by lunch time yesterday and tickets still available on the door today.

It has to be said that 90% of the shirts I've seen are Arsenal ones, but it's a lovely day in North London, a perfect football afternoon. Sunny with a bit of a crisp chill in the air. Superb.

I spotted this brass band, all sporting Arsenal shirts, on my walk round the ground. Sweet Caroline, anyone?

Tottenham were playing in the second tier three years ago before earning promotion to the WSL.

Since then the club have cemented their position as a top-flight club, with seventh, eighth and fifth-placed finishes.

Performances on the pitch have been helped by backing off it and they have been ambitious in the transfer market.

Former Manchester United defender Amy Turner was a shrewd addition from Orlando Pride, alongside German midfielder Ramona Petzelberger and ex-Chelsea striker Drew Spence, who scored on her debut in the win over Leicester last weekend.

The current record crowd for a WSL games stands at 38,262. With more than 52,000 sold in advance, today's north London derby is set to smash that figure.

"Remember, it's 50,000 sold tickets. It's not giveaways. It's not sold for a discounted price. It's sold tickets," Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall said.

"It shows that the interest there, it is for real and that the investment that we as a team and the club have done, but also all the past generations of past teams before us have done, to put us onto this stage here."

This is what we wanted. Off the back of winning the European Championship, teams are filling the men's stadiums. There are 50,000 here today and we are going to see that more and more across the WSL this season. That is key to seeing some of these iconic Lionesses and the world's best players in proper stadiums such as this.

The Gunners' bench is also looking pretty frightening with new signing Lina Hurtig and England's Lotte Wubben-Moy among their ranks.

Subs: Marckese, Wubben-Moy, Beattie, Maritz, Maanum, Nobbs, Iwabuchi, Hurtig, Blackstenius

Tottenham beat Leicester 2-1 in their opening game. Forward Angharad James moves to the bench and Rosella Ayane is not involved while Kyah Simon and Celin Bizet start.

Subs: Korpela, Pearse, Ale, James, Petzelberger, Karczewska
