  2. HALF-TIME Ayr United 1-1 Dundeepublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 26 August 2022

Zak Rudden opened the scoring after just a few minutes with an instinctive finish before Dipo Akinyemi bundled home United's equaliser from a set-piece.

Since then, the home side have looked the most likely to go ahead, but have failed to convert any of their chances.

    An entertaining first half.

    Ayr United 1-1 Dundee

Dipo Akinyemi slips in Sam Ashford on the edge of the box and his shot on the turn drags narrowly wide.

Ayr are pushing for a goal before the interval.

  4. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Ayr United 1-1 Dundee

Daire O'Connor goes for goal with an audacious long-range attempt.

The Ayr midfielder's not too far away either as it rockets wide.

  5. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Ayr United 1-1 Dundee

A bit of a lull in the game with Dundee's substitution breaking it up a touch.

Roughly 10 minutes or so until half-time yet, so don't rule out another goal.

  6. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Ayr United 1-1 Dundee

Luke McCowan can't shake off that injury he sustained and is replaced with Jordan McGhee for his second appearance of the season.

An undoubted blow for the away side to lose a player of McCowan's ability so early in this one.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 30 mins

    Ayr United 1-1 Dundee

Ryan Sweeney gives the ball away needlessly, chases back to retrieve it and cynically hauls down Ayr's Mark McKenzie in the process.

Sums up the last 10 minutes or so from the away side.

  8. ouch!

    Ouch!published at 27 mins

    Ayr United 1-1 Dundee

Dundee's Luke McCowan takes a sore one but gets back to his feet without needing any treatment for now.

He's moving a rather gingerly now though.

  9. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Ayr United 1-1 Dundee

Andy Murdoch goes close for Ayr with an edge-of-the-area attempt but skews it wide.

He has to be hitting the target from there, surely.

    Dipo Akinyemi

Time to pull out the best descriptive football word around...the goal came from a bit of a goalmouth stramash.

Frankie Musonda wins the initial header from a corner and Akinyemi is alert on the line to bundle it home.

The dubious goals panel might be needed, but he seems certain it's his goal!

    Ayr United 0-1 Dundee

Better from United as Afolabi Akinyemi manages to cut inside his defender on the edge of the box but fails to get enough bend on his shot to trouble the goalkeeper.

  13. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

    Ayr United 0-1 Dundee

Dundee threaten again as Paul McMullan plays a pass through to Zak Rudden inside the box and the striker cuts back on to his right foot but sends his shot high over the bar.

Ayr's wide midfielders getting caught high up the pitch, leaving tonnes of space for Dundee to counter in.

    Ayr United 0-1 Dundee

Both teams started brightly, with Dundee's goal coming after a swift move up the park.

Plenty of time for some more goals yet...

    Zak Rudden

A tremendous team goal from Dundee to open the scoring early on.

Luke McCowan swings in a deep ball that Paul McMullan chases down to recycle into the box on the slide.

Zak Rudden is exactly where you want your striker to be as he slots it home.

    Advantage Dundee.

  17. But who is more likely to do it?published at 19:38 British Summer Time 26 August 2022

    Ayr United v Dundee (19:45)

Using the highly scientific thumbs up or thumbs down on this entry, who do you reckon is more likely to get promoted this season based on their respective starts to the season?

Thumbs up for Ayr joining the Scottish Premiership next season

Thumbs down for Dundee yo-yoing straight back up

  18. A solid start from Gary Bowyer's sidepublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 26 August 2022

    Ayr United v Dundee (19:45)

Two wins, one draw and an opening day defeat by Partick Thistle places Dundee one point behind Ayr.

There's no doubt that Dundee will be chasing automatic re-promotion after their relegation last season, meaning they lasted only a year in the top flight.

While time will tell if they can keep this form up, they're certainly heading in the right direction for now.

Can they finish this evening top of the table, though?

  19. Top of the league and you're no...published at 19:16 British Summer Time 26 August 2022

    Ayr United v Dundee (19:45)

That's surely what Ayr fans will be singing this evening anyway.

Two wins and two draws place Lee Bullen's side atop the Championship, a point clear of Partick Thistle, Queen's Park and tonight's opponents Dundee.

Can they make it five unbeaten tonight?
