It's not been a bad performance, but we've grown to know these players and it's great that we actually expect more.

In previous campaigns we would have been happy with a 1-0 lead.

    Re: the rain.

    1) That's not bad for Wales at all, is it, on a hot night?

    2) It's funny. Everyone in Greece is in their shorts and it is pouring.

"We're only here for the weather" bellow the Wales fans - the rain has been pouring for the last 20 or so minutes here.

The traveling fans will be pleased to see their team go in at half-time with a lead.

Expect another six or seven renditions of Yma O Hyd during the break.

  6. HALF-TIME - Greece 0-1 Walespublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 2 September 2022

Just one minute of added on time and that's it, we are a half-time.

Wales lead, deservedly, but they have been far from their best.

Grab a brew, see you shortly.

It's been an average performance from Wales in the first half, there needs to be more of an injection of pace in the second half.

"Someone has to give us width, give us width," Gemma Grainger bellows so loudly the tv cameras picked it up like she was standing in your house.

Some flashy feet from Carrie Jones on the right hand side draws gasps from the home fans who have been fairly quiet all night but for a few drum bangs and "Hellas" shouts.

The Welsh teenager is brimming with confidence after that goal.

There's some gaps appearing which is uncharacteristic, Wales need to keep possession and get back into their flow.

Rachel Rowe goes in the book for a hefty challenge.

    Greece 0-1 Wales

What I was going to say... several minutes ago.... was that Wales have a lot of Championship players on their bench, who might be a bit sharper than some of the WSL players.

But then the WSL player who is filling the biggest shoes in the team scored her first Wales goal and made that point redundant, so I will get my coat and pipe down.

It's a good save from Laura O'Sullivan, that will give her confidence for the rest of the game.

    Greece 0-1 Wales

A great save from Laura O'Sullivan!

    Massive.

Wales go to sleep but she reacted so well to save with her feet after Sofia Kongouli sent Eleni Markou clear.

She's beaming, smiling from ear to ear.

There was a question whether she should be playing, absolutely she should be.

She's put her body on the line, got in between the defenders and it's a good finish, very reactive.

    Forget that!

    Wales lead!

What a good time for Carrie Jones to score her first international goal!

Gemma Evans flicks on a free-kick and Jones stabs home at the second attempt.

    A key breakthrough!

    Greece 0-0 Wales

Gemma Grainger is asking for Wales to increase their quality in the final third.

At the moment, they don't look especially threatening.

But don't worry, I've just come up with a compelling theory for why that might not matter.

  20. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Greece 0-0 Wales

Two dangerous crosses from Wales are scrambled away.

Gemma Evans almost turned the ball home.

Wales' aerial supremacy looks their best route to a goal.
