I mean, is it good that Wales have the depth to not play Jess Fishlock when she's injured? Yes.

But that doesn't mean they don't miss her.

    Greece 0-0 Wales

Wales need to increase their tempo. They are on the front-foot, but they are not threatening as much as they would like.

I think there's a spell around the goal to keep the ball out of it.

Wales are knocking on the door, a goal is coming sometime soon.

  4. CLOSE!published at 22 mins

    Greece 0-0 Wales

Ceri Holland wins a corner for Wales with another fine run.

The ball falls to Tash Harding as Greece fail to clear, but she crosses right across goal and no-one can get a touch.

That is where Ceri Holland is so dangerous.

It's a good save to tip it around the post, but Holland will be a bit disappointed she didn't put that in the back of the net.

    Close!

Ceri Holland bursts clear and shoots across goal, but that's a top save from Zoi Nasi.

Early days, but Zoi Nasi in the Greek goal looks more composed than Anthi Papakonstantinou did in the reverse fixture.

  8. Wales seeking a moment of qualitypublished at 16 mins

After a scrappy start, the game has settled down and the pattern is already looking clear.

Greece, who were beaten 10-0 at home by France and 4-1 by Slovenia earlier in this qualifying campaign, are sitting deep and challenging Wales to find a way through their defences.

The hosts are looking to counter when they can, but for the most part it has been Wales controlling possession and territory thus far.

What they need now is a moment of quality in the final third to break Greece down - which, it is worth noting, Slovenia failed to do when they drew 0-0 at home against the Greeks last November.

    Greece 0-0 Wales

    Wales not at their sharpest.

Worth remembering most of these players have not started their domestic campaign yet.

That makes Jess Fishlock, in the middle of her season in the US, even more of a miss tonight.

  10. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Greece 0-0 Wales

Superb cross from Rhiannon Roberts, but Ceri Holland can't quite find the target with her header.

It's quite humid here in Volos and we've just had the first flashes of lightning and there's a rumbling of thunder too.

Greece look content to put 11 players behind the ball when Wales are in possession.

The pace has started to increase from Gemma Grainger's side - a little bit of pre-season rustiness perhaps showing.

It is very difficult to play against lower-ranked nations when they drop deeper.

I'm sure we'll see Sophie Ingle and Angharad James dropping in to try and inject some pace.

A lovely bit of passing releases Natasha Harding, but her cross is cut out, more by luck than judgement.

    Better from Wales.

Wales are starting to increase their tempo.

It's really important that Wales start with high tempo.

Away at Kazakhstan they were frustrated in the first 25-30 minutes, but once they got a goal nerves settled.

Not trying to read too much into the absence of Jess Fishlock here but she's the only substitute in a full tracksuit for either side.

Will she see any minutes tonight or will she be rested for Slovenia on Tuesday?

  17. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Greece 0-0 Wales

It was remiss of me not to mention earlier, but Gemma Grainger confirmed Jess Fishlock "has a knock."

  18. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Greece 0-0 Wales

A little scrappy from Wales early on, but they don't suffer from giving the ball away a couple of times.

Greece are playing more defensively than in Llanelli.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Greece 0-0 Wales

Referee Monika Mularczyk gets us under way in Volos.

A big big night for Wales.

Slovenia are already winning their game this evening.

A huge qualifier or as Gemma Grainger calls it, game nine.

  20. Grainger not getting carried awaypublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 2 September 2022

    Greece v Wales (18:00 BST)

Wales boss Gemma Grainger says she is determined not to get carried away by her side's strong position in World Cup qualifying Group I.

"There's a danger that people can start to look ahead at this point," she told BBC Sport Wales.

"People talk about play-offs. I say: 'Yes, the play-offs do exist, but we're not currently in the play-offs.'

"We know what the target is, but our focus is very much on Greece and we'll flip to Slovenia after the game.

"Once we get to that point there's so much to be excited about.

"But Greece could still mathematically qualify, so I'm sure they'll want to make sure they perform in this game."
