  2. CLOSE!published at 62 mins

    Huddersfield 2-0 Hull

That should be game over after a game of pinball in the Hull box.

First Jordan Rhodes sees an angled shot come back off the post, Hull defenders throw themselves at the ball in a desperate attempt to keep it out.

And when finally Michal Helik stabs it goalwards, Alfie Jones is there to clear off the line.

    Huddersfield 2-0 Hull

A first effort on target for Hull.

Lewie Coyle plays a nice one-two with Jean Michael Seri and tries his luck from 25 yards.

But his shot lacks power and is straight at Lee Nicholls, who makes a comfortable save.

It will be interesting to see what those changes do for Hull. I guess Andy Dawson needed to do something.

Mark Fotheringham, in the home dugout, will be pretty happy so far.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 55 mins

    Huddersfield 2-0 Hull

Triple substitution for Hull as they seek a way back into the game.

Dimitrios Pelkas, Ozan Tufan and Regan Slater are of and on come Ryan Woods, Jean Michael Seri and Greg Docherty.

It's a whole new midfield for the Tigers.

It's bad defending all around from Hull. It's set-pieces again.

Huddersfield have worked on them because they're low on confidence and it's a chance to get results.

Huddersfield double their lead. It comes from a free-kick that Hull can't clear.

Danny Ward keeps the ball alive, and scoops it into the six-yard box and Michal Helik cannot miss from almost under the bar, rising above Lewie Coyle to head home.

  8. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Huddersfield 1-0 Hull

This has been a promising start to the second half for Huddersfield as Ben Jackson races forward into the Hull penalty area and goes down under pressure from Cyrus Christie.

Jackson wants a penalty but there doesn't look a huge amount in it.

  9. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Huddersfield 1-0 Hull

Early opening for Huddersfield as Jordan Rhodes latches on to a ball over the top and lofts the ball goalwards.

It's dropping just side but Lewie Coyle takes no chances and puts it behind for a corner.

So, what happened in the Championship on Saturday?

Well, in case you missed it, 40-year-old Phil Jagielka provided one of the main stories as he scored and claimed an assist as Stoke beat his former club Sheffield United 3-1.

However, the Blades remain top of the Championship after Preston - who had only scored four league goals all season before yesterday - came from behind to win 3-2 at Norwich.

Elsewhere, Wigan striker Charlie Wyke scored his first goal since suffering a cardiac arrest in training last season, while the pressure increased on West Brom boss Steve Bruce after his faltering side were held to a goalless draw by Luton.

    HT: Huddersfield 1-0 Hull

To be honest, I'm not sure I agree with Peter Swan there. Hull have looked pretty toothless to me, with that chance for Ryan Longman just before half-time the only clear chance they have created.

Huddersfield haven't looked great either, but they've seemed pretty comfortable and have looked dangerous from set-pieces.

This is still a great chance for Hull to get three points.

They're playing good football and if they could get one then Huddersfield could crumble.

There was the opportunity to get back into the game.

Huddersfield are now going in buzzing at half-time.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 9 October 2022

    Huddersfield 1-0 Hull

That was the last action of the first half. Huddersfield hold what might be a priceless lead thanks to that Lewis Coyle own goal.

They've won their past four league matches against Hull - can they hold on to make it five and move closer to getting out of the relegation zone.

    Hull should be level!

Ryan Longman beats the offside trap and goes through one-on-on - but rolls his shot wide.

Huddersfield are in no rush at all as we move towards two minutes of added time at the end of the first half.

Better from Hull, who work Callum Elder into space wide on the left. His pull-back falls nicely for Ryan Longman, but Michal Helik races towards him and puts in a timely block.

Excellent defending by the former Barnsley man. Longman's shot looked goalbound.

Huddersfield are trying to take the sting out of this as we move towards half-time. They want to take a lead into the break.

  20. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Huddersfield 1-0 Hull

Dimitrios Pelkas picks the pocket of Huddersfield player in midfield to set Hull off on the counter.

He feeds Oscar Estupinan, but the Tigers' leading scorer's shot flies high over the bar and into the stand behind the goal.

Hull have been keeping the ballboys busier than Lee Nicholls with their shooting. Wayward is the word.
