    Huddersfield 1-0 Hull

It's amazing what a goal can do for confidence. Suddenly Huddersfield look more confident on the ball, knocking the ball around.

Hull are still trying to play too but they're still struggling to create clear chances.

Some of the defending is not the best. Hull have the leakiest defence in the division, four worse now than Bristol City, who have conceded 21.

It's not come from a set-piece but directly followed one.

Sorba Thomas' corner is cleared by Hull but Huddersfield keep up the attack and work space for Etienne Camara wide on the left.

He whips the ball into the six-yard box and Lewie Coyle diverts it past his own keeper with a flying header.

Another corner for Huddersfield, more grappling in the box. Enough in fact for referee Tim Robinson to have a word.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

Twenty five minutes into this contest and you can see why both these sides are towards the bottom of the Championship.

There's been plenty of perspiration, but not a lot of inspiration. Set-pieces feel the best route to goal.

    Peter Swan

That's a let off for Hull. I think if he heads that properly, he scores.

Hull have looked the better side, but Huddersfield have had the two best chances.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

Huddersfield look dangerous from set-pieces and really should score from another corner.

Sorba Thomas whips the ball in and it appears to hit Tom Lees and goes narrowly wide, rather than the defender properly getting his head on it.

In Lees' defence he did seem to be being grabbed by a defender, which wouldn't have helped.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

The Hull corner is only partially cleared by the home side to Dimitrios Pelkas around 25 yards out.

The Greece international tries his luck but, not for the first time this afternoon, his effort flies off target.

It's good play from Hull. They are pressing high up the field and winning the ball back.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

More pressure from Hull, who win another corner after Regan Slater's cross hits the heels of a defender- and the ball is eventually turned behind by Yuta Nakayama.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

Opening for Hull now, after they win the ball high up the field after a goal kick.

Ryan Longman cuts inside on his left foot but his curling effort flies just the wrong side of the far post.

Huddersfield win their first corner of the game.

Sorba Thomas, who wins it when his attempted cross is deflected behind, swings it in, but Hull scramble it away.

The Terriers nod the ball back into the danger area and Tom Lees hits his shot straight at Nathan Baxter from 15 yards. Decent chance.

Not sure if Mark Fotheringham is superstitious or not, but here's an omen he will hope doesn't come true.

Each of the last six permanent Terriers managers have all lost their first home game – Chris Powell, David Wagner, Jan Siewert, Danny Cowley, Carlos Corberan and Danny Schofield.

Fotheringham won't want to make it seven.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

Peter Swan might have a point. Huddersfield again carelessly concede possession inside their own half.

Dimitrios Pelkas advances but sees a long-range shot from fully 30 yards fly harmlessly over the Huddersfield bar.

Hull have looked the better side so far. There's three points here for them if they get their act together.

Huddersfield look all over the shop.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

Huddersfield are trying to play out from the back, but it's not with great success as a wayward pass runs out of play, before more sloppy work hands Hull an early corner.

Dimitrios Pelkas swings it in but it's easily cleared at the near post.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Hull

It's fair to say it's not been an action-packed start as a couple of ground staff are called upon to peg down an advert behind the Huddersfield goal.

I think this is an excellent opportunity for Hull City.

If Andy Dawson is to stand a chance of getting the job permanently then I think he has to get a result today. If not then the search for a new boss will be on.
