  1. goal

GOAL: QPR 3-0 Cardiffpublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Kenneth Paal (74 mins)

That surely seals three points for QPR!

This is an expert header from a player not noted for his aerial prowess. Sam Field sends a cross to the far post from the right and Kenneth Paal loops his effort over Ryan Allsop and into the far corner of the net.

Chuba Akpom converts from the spot! Boro are breezing their way to a place outside of the drop zone and a first away win of the season!

Graeme Shinnie entered the action as part of a trio of Wigan substitutions, only to bring down Isaiah Jones inside the penalty area on the hosts' left as one of his first acts.

Ben Amos guesses correctly by diving to his left but Akpom's strike has too much zip and beats him!

Gustavo Hamer forces a smart save from Adam Davies in the Blades goal.

Just over 20 minutes to go in this one.

    Birmingham 0-0 Burnley

    KompanyImage source, Rex Features

There are 1,308 Burnley fans in the away end at Small Heath tonight as part of a crowd of 16,303.

Will Vincent Kompany be applauding them as a winner at the end or can Birmingham bag another three points at home after that 3-0 thrashing of Bristol City last time out?

The hosts have still had the only effort on target.

  5. Postpublished at 21:09 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    QPR 2-0 Cardiff

Cardiff are still yet to have a shot on target.

Lyndon Dykes fancies his hat-trick, sending a shot wide from the edge of the penalty area for QPR.

A reminder: QPR will go top if they win and neither Burnley nor Sheffield United follow suit.

  6. Postpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Millwall 3-0 Watford

Watford have made two changes at the break as they seek a way back into this.

Joao Pedro and Samuel Kulu are on.

Long old way back from here though.

  7. goal

GOAL: Wigan 1-3 Middlesbroughpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Hayden Hackney (57 mins)

You wait five hours for an away goal and then... three arrive inside 15 minutes!

This is the pick of the efforts so far by a considerable stretch. Boro youth product Hayden Hackney picks up a Wigan clearance well outside the penalty area, takes a touch to his right and whacks a powerful, accurate strike beyond Ben Amos' dive.

The 20-year-old has a first Championship goal to remember! The visitors are around 30 minutes from escaping the bottom three.

    Birmingham 0-0 Burnley

Burnley want a penalty as Anass Zaroury appears to be brought down. He's booked for diving, alas.

    Blackpool 1-2 Hull City

Hull were really toothless in their home defeat by Birmingham on Sunday but they look like a different animal tonight.

Greg Docherty fires a low ball across the box that Dimitrios Pelkas can't quite get on the end of.

  10. goal

GOAL: Wigan 1-2 Middlesbroughpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Duncan Watmore (51 mins)

    Boro take the lead!

Duncan Watmore clearly had his half-time oranges. The forward reaches a long pass and shows commendable determination to keep charging towards goal from the left of centre despite appearing to have been blocked off twice.

Eventually he's through on goal and has the composure to slide a low finish beyond Ben Amos and into the far corner of the net.

Could that be the goal that takes his side out of the relegation zone tonight?

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Coventry 0-0 Sheff Utd

The away side nearly take the lead in fairly fortuitous circumstances.

Oli Norwood swings in a free-kick that misses everyone and hits the crossbar.

HonestHornet:The problem at Watford is the owners only invest in attacking players, so they can sell them on. The defence has been needing an upgrade for 4 or 5 seasons - it's been totally neglected. Chickens coming home to roost.

Slaven Bilic's men are 3-0 down at half-time at Millwall and staring down the barrel of a third defeat in four games.

Some half for the home side and striker Tom Bradshaw.

The 30-year-old has all three goals for the Lions who are in total control of this match.

Slaven Bilic has a big job on his hands if he's to avoid a third defeat in the past four games.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Wigan 1-1 Middlesbrough

Two goals in little more than 10 minutes have brought this game to life.

Wigan must have felt confident of a second successive home win and clean sheet when Will Keane put them ahead, but Isaiah Jones' reply a minute before the break will give Boro hope of a first away win in 10.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    QPR 2-0 Cardiff

All the talk around Loftus Road has been about Michael Beale's future. If Wolves are intent on appointing him this week, this game has been another advertisement of the progress he has achieved at QPR.

Lyndon Dykes' opener from the spot came at the expense of a Jack Simpson red card for Cardiff, and the scorer added a second within 15 minutes. The hosts are cruising and heading top of the Championship as it stands.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Birmingham 0-0 Burnley

There's been one shot on target at St Andrew's, although Burnley hit the post through Jay Rodriguez.

Vincent Kompany will be telling his players to up the ante if they want to deny QPR or Sheffield United top spot tonight, while Birmingham will be looking to control the game better after having just 31% of possession so far.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 19 October 2022

    Coventry 0-0 Sheff Utd

No shots on target so, unsurprisingly, no goals.

Let's hope for a bit more excitement after the break in this one.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 19 October 2022
