We've got new leaders at the top of the Championship.

Burnley had to work hard for the three points over Norwich at Turf Moor and needed a late penalty to get the job done and claim a 1-0 win.

Credit to the Canaries defence which was under constant pressure from a Clarets attack that rarely let up, but boss Dean Smith's hot seat is perhaps a little hotter after that result.

    Elsewhere, talk about last-minute drama.

Rotherham looked set to claim all three points and leap into the Championship top 10 but they gave away an injury-time penalty which Viktor Gyokeres tucked away to maker it 2-2.

The Millers move up to 11th and whilst the Sky Blues stay in the bottom three in 22nd, they've extended their unbeaten run to four.

  2. League Two headlinespublished at 22:03 British Summer Time 25 October 2022

Leaders Leyton Orient made no mistake at home to Gillingham as they claimed a 2-0 win and stay a point clear at the top.

Paul Smyth and Ruel Sotiriou with the goals at Brisbane Road.

Stevenage kept right on their heels as Jordan Roberts' first-half header earned victory at Doncaster.

But Northampton, in third, dropped points from 2-0 up at home to Sutton.

Marc Leonard and Mitch Pinnock gave them a first-half lead but Omar Bugiel and Donovan Wilson pegged them back in the second period.

At the other end of the table, Hartlepool lost a fourth-straight game and stay bottom after Ryan Leek and Ethan Galbraith earned Salford a 2-0 win at Victoria Park.

Colchester stay in the bottom two after their 2-2 draw at home to Crawley, Junior Tchamadeu with a second-half equaliser for United.

    Burnley 1-0 Norwich City

Burnley go top of the Championship.

The referee blows his whistle and the crowd at Turf Moor roar the house down.

The Clarets always the better side through the 90+ minutes threatening to score every time they went forward.

Credit to Norwich's defence who only came undone due to the handball in the box and penalty which Jay Rodriguez fired home.

But the Canaries were almost non-existent going forward with only two chances - decent ones - on goal.

You need more than that to get goals in this league.

Plymouth are still top of the table after coming from behind to beat Shrewsbury 2-1 at home with goals by Niall Enniss and Morgan Whittaker.

It was another good night for second-placed Ipswich, who surrendered a two-goal lead at port Vale, but came out on top 3-2, thanks to Freddie Ladapo's second goal of the evening.

Mk Dons climbed three places off the bottom with a 2-0 win at Charlton, while Jon Dadi Bodvarsson scored in the eighth minute of stoppage time to give Bolton a dramatic 2-1 win over Burton.

You have to feel that Teemu Pukki, usually a sure thing in front of goal, has to do better there with such a rare and golden chance for the visitors.

Looking at the replay, his side footed shot looked a little weak.

I'll bet he wishes he just smashed it with his laces instead of trying to place it.

    Burnley 1-0 Norwich City

At the other end it's Norwich with their best chance of the game.

Teemu Pukki finds himself with the ball at his feet on the far side of the Burnley penalty area and dribbles into the box with at least three Clarets snatching at his heels.

But his side footed shot is saved beautifully by Arijanet Muric who made himself big to block the shot.

    Coventry 2-2 Rotherham

    And that will do it.

It's not four wins on the spin for Coventry but they have rescued a point late on.

Cohen Bramall put Rotherham ahead just before the break.

The Sky Blues levelled through Gustavo Hamer with 15 minutes to play, only to fall behind again two minutes later as Conor Washington scored for the Millers.

But Viktor Gyökeres's stoppage time penalty levelled for a second time and ensured a share of the spoils.

A draw not enough to carry Coventry out of the relegation zone.

Rotherham remain with only one away win this season and stay 11th.

Are leaders Plymouth heading for three points after trailing for so long? Could well be as Morgan Whittaker has now put them 2-1 ahead at home to Shrewsbury.

Second-placed Ipswich are still 3-2 ahead at Port Vale, having been pegged back from 2-0 either side of half-time, and MK Dons copuld be moving off the bottom as they lead 2-0 at Charlton.

Portsmouth have pulled level at 1-1 against Oxford, thanks to Colby Bishop, while Peterborough appear to have the points in the bag with a 3-1 lead over Accrington.

    Burnley 0-0 Norwich City

The Norwich defender caught up in that mid-air collision, Max Aarons, has been taken off and replaced with Liam Gibbs.

Aarons was walking quite gingerly as he left the field. He was probably lucky not to have been sent off by the referee after his involvement in that challenge just seconds before.

    Burnley 0-0 Norwich City

We've got a bit of a stoppage after a Burnley and a Norwich player clattered into each in mid-air, about 8 yards off the edge of the Clarets penalty area.

The crowd chant "off, off, off" but after a bit of a delay both players are on their feet and the referee keeps his cards in his pocket.
