  1. Can Corberan bring much needed stability to The Hawthorns?published at 12:21 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

So Carlos Corberan is the latest man in the West Brom hotseat – a seat that has quietly become one of the hottest in English football. Think of Steve Bruce, Valerien Ismael, Sam Allardyce, Slaven Bilic, Jimmy Shan, Darren Moore, Alan Pardew and Tony Pulis. That is all within the last five years.

It shows how West Brom have gone from a solid Premier League outfit to one stuck in the Championship relegation zone.

Corberan earned a big reputation for taking Huddersfield to third last season and one game away from promotion, but it took time in West Yorkshire as the Terriers finished 20thin his first season. But the Baggies’ needs are pressing and after a few years of abject misery, the fans are desperate for an uplift.

    Bristol City 0-0 Swansea

A last-ditch tackle from Cameron Pring keeps Bristol City from conceding.

Swansea break and eventually Michael Obafemi picks up the ball but before he can drive towards goal, Pring puts in the tackle to deny him.

  3. Livermore looking to last the full 90 minutes?published at 12:16 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

West Brom v Sheff Utd (12:30 BST)

It's history repeating for West Bromwich Albion today as, with Carlos Corberan now in charge, the struggling hots kick off a new managerial era at home to Sheffield United.

The Blades also provided the oppostion for Steve Bruce's first game in charge of the Baggies back in February. And Albion will be hoping that this lunchtime's encounter at The Hawthorns proves happier than that miserable night for Bruce back at Bramall Lane almost nine months ago.

Albion captain Jake Livermore had sent off, and they lost 2-0. And Bruce lost his skipper for the next four games, as he had already been sent off earlier in the season, ironically against Corberan's Huddersfield.

It was not the first time Livermore had got off to such an inauspicious start under a new Albion boss. The same thing happened when he got red carded in Sam Allardyce's first game in charge - a 3-0 home defeat by Villa - in December 2020.

Just staying on the park and lasting the full 90 minutes will be his first task today. Three points would be nice too, for an Albion side who have won just twice in 16 games this season - and sit 23rd in the league!

Corberan has a job on at The Hawthorns, with Albion in their lowest league position in 21 years. And on a ground, where he admits, in three previous visits with Leeds United (where he was part of Marcelo Bielsa's coaching team) and Huddersfield Town, he has never won!

    Bristol City 0-0 Swansea

Bristol City hit back on the counter as Nahki Wells tees up Tommy Conway on the wing.

He plays the ball through to Antoine Semenyo who tries his luck but forces Swansea keeper Steven Benda into making a save.

    Bristol City 0-0 Swansea

Still goalless in the early stages at Ashton Gate.

George Tanner does well to win a corner for Bristol City but Swansea clear.

Soon after, Swansea break upfield and almost take the lead but Ollie Cooper heads wide.

A pair of early kick-offs in the Championship today with one earlier than the other.

Bristol City take on Swansea in Saturday's noon kick-off and come into the game having lost their past two league games against the Swans.

The Robins have never lost three on the trot against Swansea, mind.

Swansea make the trip across the Bristol Channel having won six of their past seven Championship games. Some run. We could be in for a cracker.
