Celtic fans have been congregating all day in the main square in Leipzig, enjoying the German beer and autumn sunshine.

They've only seen their team win once in their last 13 matches on the road in the Champions League, and never in Germany.

"You'll Never Walk Alone", has just been played over the tannoy. Is today the fans see a rare victory on the road?

  2. Leipzig home form picks up under Rosepublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 5 October 2022

    RB Leipzig v Celtic (17:45)

That weekend win lifted the hosts up to 11th in the Bundesliga after a rather dreadful start to the season.

Domenico Tedesco may have won the club's first major trophy last season, with German Cup final success, but that wasn't enough to spare the head coach from the chop last month.

After just one victory from five league games, the final straw was a shock 4-1 home loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in this competition.

Since Marco Rose came in they have enjoyed two comfortable home Bundesliga wins against Borussia Dortmund and Bochum and been thumped away by Borussia Monchengladbach, while Real Madrid struck twice in the last 10 minutes to beat them at the Santiago Bernabeu.

  3. 'Celtic great fun to watch' - Rosepublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 5 October 2022

    RB Leipzig v Celtic (17:45)

At yesterday's media conference, Leipzig head coach Marco Rose revealed that he enjoyed watching Celtic, picking out Japanese trio; Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda, as players to watch.

"You have to say, it’s great fun to watch Glasgow Celtic, especially their Japanese players," he said. "It’s very noticeable how strongly these guys shape the game.

"They’re small, bustling and extremely uncomfortable (to play against), especially in one-on-ones. They also have a great mentality. They can decide the game with their individual actions.

"Overall Celtic have a very exciting and clear game idea. Similar to us, they try to interpret football actively, to align the game offensively and to put the opponent under pressure."

  4. 'Another massive challenge for Celtic'published at 17:20 British Summer Time 5 October 2022

    RB Leipzig v Celtic (17:45)

"Every team you play is a top-quality side so you know that irrespective of what has happened before and what games you have got ahead, the next task is to take on the challenge that is before you," said Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou yesterday.

"We just need to keep performing at the levels we can.

"The first two games have been pretty good from a performance perspective.

"We felt we did well for about an hour in the first game but we did fall away, the second game, our performances was strong.

"But we are under no illusions, this is going to be another massive challenge for us."

The Red Bull Arena is a merging of the old East German style architecture and the modern drinks brand.

As you come in you're met with a big old fashioned block of a building, which links through to the shiny big red bowl which will host 47,000 fans come kick off.

The Celtic end is filling up towards its 3,000 capacity, and the big drum has already started...

    RB Leipzig v Celtic (17:45)

The home side make one change in defence after Saturday's 4-0 win over Bochum, with left-back David Raum taking over from Marcel Halstenberg. Both are German internationals which gives you a flavour of the squad depth Leipzig have.

Timo Werner and Christopher Nkunku both scored twice in the weekend victory.

Andre Silva will spearhead the attack, with Werner in behind, while Nkunku and Hungary star Dominik Szoboszlai like to cut in from out wide. It's a front four full of menace.

Lukas Klostermann, Konrad Laimer and Dani Olmo are notable absentees through injury.
