It's not fair [that criticism of the referee]. I do not think he was out of his depth. Both decisions went against Partick Thistle tonight. Had it been one decision per team, would he be saying he was out of his depth?

  3. 'You can't get those decisions wrong' - McCallpublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 7 October 2022

FT: Inverness CT 1-0 Partick Thistle

Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall tells BBC Sportscene: “There were two pivotal moments. The penalty kicks the clearest you'll ever see. Docherty has his toe over the ball then he's taken out.

"I can understand the sending off, yes, but it’s a 50-50. It’s very, very soft.

"Second half I was delighted with how we defended but the referee, I don't think I’ve seen him before, but the referee looked way out of his depth for this level of football.

"I can’t fault the players for their effort but I've got to be honest up until the sending off it was very even, we weren't dominating.

"You can't get two decisions like that wrong in a game of this magnitude, this is two teams going for the league title.

As usual, some strong stuff from the Partick Thistle manager...

  5. 'We deserved to win' - Doddspublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 7 October 2022

FT: Inverness CT 1-0 Partick Thistle

Inverness manager Billy Doddstells BBC Sportscene: “I think we did everything to them that they did to us in the 4-1 game.

“I was really happy with the first half but we got sloppy in the second half I thought, despite them being down to 10 men.

“I asked for patience and we’d get our chance and they showed it. What a finish from Billy Mckay too.

“They still went at it with 10 men but I thought we deserved our victory tonight I really did.

"I’d have liked more goals but tactically that’s what I wanted and I got it.

That is only Inverness' second home win this season and their first clean sheet.

It is also the first Scottish Championship game this season that Partick Thistle have failed to score in.

  8. FULL-TIME Inverness CT 1-0 Partick Thistlepublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 7 October 2022

Inverness record their fourth Scottish Championship win in a row courtesy of Billy Mckay's 75th-minute strike against 10-man Partick Thistle, sending them level on points at the top of the table with this evening's opponents.

Kyle Turner was sent off prior to half time for going into a challenge with his studs up.

The ever-present Billy Mckay converted in the second half after Daniel Mackay's cross wasn't dealt with.

    Inverness nearly double their advantage.

George Oakley turns the ball back towards goal as he races to the edge of the box, lifting it over and past the keeper David Mitchell, but Aaron Muirhead clears it off of the line.

Had it remained 0-0 both Partick Thistle central defenders were in with a shout here, but Daniel Mackay is my man of the match for his persistence, moments of quality, and involvement in the goal.

A few entries ago I mentioned that Inverness were just knocking it around their back four and keeping the ball without threatening Partick.

Aye, they're at it again. Crucially, however, they're also a goal to the good now as the clock winds down.

    It's almost level.

Kevin Holt finds himself on the edge of the Inverness box and plays a quick one-two, freeing himself up.

His left-footed shot is ultimately dragged narrowly wide of the far post

    Billy Mckay

Aaron Muirhead is unlucky as his clearance from Daniel Mackay's cross is sliced and lands at the feet of Billy Mckay on the edge of the box.

A touch with the right, a shot with the left. Advantage Inverness courtesy of Mckay.

There's no one the Inverness fans would have preferred that chance to fall for than the number 9.

A slight lull to say the least is where this game's at now.

Inverness are knocking it about their defence at the moment with the other Thistle content to sit in their shape and frustrate the hosts.

In fairness, the away side aren't just sitting in, they're out to win this one too.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 66 mins

David Mitchell leaps up into the top corner of the net to deny Cameron Harper from about 25-yards out.

Partick won't mind if the home side are limited to shots from that distance.

Couple of changes for the home side as Billy Dodds has his first roll of the dice.

Nathan Shaw and Aaron Doran come on.

Roddy MacGregor and Steven Boyd go off.

    Inverness CT 0-0 Partick Thistle

It's still all Inverness but they're lacking a clinical touch in the box.

Then again, Billy Mckay isn't the worst option up there in these situations.

He nearly latched onto a pass in the box there but was well dealt with by Aaron Muirhead.
