Ben Brereton Diaz has been in fine goalscoring form for Blackburn lately, scoring twice in their win against Rotherham at the weekend.

So when the ball falls to him as Rovers attack, you'd be forgiven for thinking he might give them the lead against the run of play.

But he drags a shot across the face of goal in Blackburn's first attack for some time.

I think Wigan will be happier so far, Blackburn haven't really got anything going yet.

They're lacklustre and they're giving the ball away cheaply.

    Calvin Andrew
Ex-Rochdale forward on BBC Radio Manchester

It's been a very frantic start. There's security in numbers for Wigan when Blackburn have the ball.

It's important that when Wigan have the ball they then try to hurt Blackburn with their high wing backs.

It's half-time in one of our two Papa John's Trophy ties this evening and it's fair to say it's been all one-way traffic in South Yorkshire.

Barnsley lead 4-0 at Doncaster thanks to Josh Martin's first two goals for the Tykes and two goals for 16-year-old Fabio Jalo. Barnsley have even missed a penalty.

Victory will see Barnsley qualify from their group and leave second-placed Doncaster waiting on the outcome of Lincoln against Newcastle United Under-21s.
