    Arsenal

Jonas Eidevall on BBC: "Jordan Nobbs has been coming off the bench tremendously well. She started against Zurich in the Champions League and did that very well, so I am excited to see her start today and she's been an important player so far this season and I hope that continues."

A good start by Liverpool. Jasmine Matthews wins it high up the pitch and earns a throw-in. Villa get themselves ready to defend a long Megan Campbell throw but she goes short. It opens things up but Taylor Hinds' cross is straight into the side-netting in the end.

  6. What the stats saypublished at 13:59 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Reading v Manchester City (14:00 GMT)

    • Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw has scored 15 goals in her 14 starts in the Women’s Super League. Despite only completing 90 minutes in one WSL game, only Sam Kerr (22) and Vivianne Miedema (16) have scored more goals in the WSL since the start of last season than Shaw (15).
    • Reading have won just one of their 12 WSL matches against Manchester City (D2 L9), losing the last three in a row without scoring.
    • In Manchester City’s 10 WSL matches in November, they have scored 40 goals (W8 D1 L1), scoring at least four goals in seven of those games. In their one defeat, they lost 4-0 to Chelsea.
  7. Reading up and runningpublished at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Reading v Manchester City (14:00 GMT)

Reading have got their campaign up and running after registering a win in their last match against pointless Leicester City.

They scored two 90th minute goals to secure victory against Leicester. It was the first time they’d gone ahead in a league match this season.

Kelly Chambers' side are now ninth in the table, level on points with Liverpool and Brighton.

  8. A ‘season defining’ period for Liverpoolpublished at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Liverpool v Aston Villa (14:00 GMT)

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Prenton Park

This is the start of a run of crucial games for Liverpool, according to manager Matt Beard.

He has referred to the next period of fixtures before Christmas as one that will “define their season”.

Villa are among the teams Liverpool hope to be competing with in mid-table and if they can get a few results under their belt against teams around them, Beard believes that could be enough to avoid danger.

They have not picked up any points since their victory over Chelsea on the opening day but have shown progression in performances.

Villa started the season very well but have tailed off a little in recent weeks and injuries have had an impact.

There’s been a lot of noise off the pitch at Villa recently too - the situation surrounding goalkeeper Hannah Hampton’s omission dominating headlines.

However, this is a game they will feel they have more than enough quality to control. They want to end a run of four games in all competitions without a win.

  9. Team newspublished at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Liverpool v Aston Villa (14:00 GMT)

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Prenton Park

Liverpool boss Matt Beard makes one change to the side who lost to Manchester City in their last WSL game.

Midfielder Ceri Holland misses out through injury and forward Shanice van de Sanden is still not ready to start.

In comes Rachel Furness - who ended up starting last week after replacing Holland in the warm-up - for Missy Bo Kearns in midfield.

Liverpool XI: Laws, Koivisto, Fahey, Flaherty, Campbell, Hinds, Matthews, Furness, Lawley, Stengel, Daniels.

Subs: Cumings, Kearns, Robe, Roberts, Wardlaw, Humphrey, van de Sanden, Silcock.

Carla Ward names the same Aston Villa side who suffered defeat to Chelsea.

Goalkeeper Anna Leat remains while Hannah Hampton is not in the squad.

Aston Villa XI: Leat, Mayling, Corsie, Patten, Pacheco, Turner, Blindkilde, Dali, Lehmann, Daly, Hanson.

Subs: Draper, McCloughlin, Harding, Gregory, Goodwin.

    Leicester v Arsenal (14:00 BST)

    Leicester City

Willie Kirk on BBC: "It's been a quick turnaround. It's not really been much time anything else apart from this game which I think is a positive. We've been straight on preparation for Arsenal and everybody is looking forward to it.

"You can see three fully defensive minded players. We are playing against for me the best team in Europe just now, so we have to try to be defensively secure as much as possible and build the game from there.

"The three experienced players that have a number of international caps are amongst them, so they bring a lot of qualities into this team. I am really looking forward to see the impact they can make."

    Leicester v Arsenal (14:00 GMT)

If Willie Kirk wasn't aware of the size of the task today, here it is laid out.

    • Arsenal have played five and won five, and only find themselves trailing leaders Manchester United on goals conceded.
    • They can go top with a win, even for only a few hours.
    • Leicester are rock bottom after six defeats from six.
  12. Man City look to continue winning streakpublished at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Reading v Manchester City (14:00 GMT)

Manchester City are on a three match winning streak in the league.

Victories against Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool mean they are currently in fourth.

But they are already six points behind rivals Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea who are all on 15 points.

Will Man City be able to make it four wins in a row or can Reading spring a surprise?

  13. Team news - Troelsgaard in, Greenwood & Kelly on City benchpublished at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

Reading v Manchester City (14:00 BST)

Reading boss Kelly Chambers makes just one change to the side that earned their first win of the season last weekend against Leicester.

Natasha Dowie drops to the bench as Danish midfielder Sanne Troelsgaard comes in.

Reading XI: Burns, Mukandi, Evans, Caldwell, Bryson, Rowe, Vanhaevermaet, Woodham, Troelsgaard, Wellings, Eikeland

Subs: Poulter, Wade, Jane, Dowie Cooper, Meadows Tuson, Primmer

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor makes three changes to his side who beat Liverpool 2-1 last time out.

Sandy MacIver starts in goal in place of usual shot-stopper Ellie Roebuck. Lionesses Alex Greenwood and Chloe Kelly also move to the bench as Demi Stokes and Hayley Raso, who scored the winner last weekend, earn places in the starting line-up.

The 22-year-old Esme Morgan will wear the captains armband.

City XI: Maciver, Casparij, Aleixandri, Morgan, Stokes, Hasegawa, Castellanos, Coombs, Raso, Shaw, Hemp

Subs: Roebuck, Greenwood, Houghton, Fowler, Kelly, Angeldahl, Ouhabi, Hutchings, Blakstad

Leicester manager Lydia Bedford has stepped down as manager with director of women's football Willie Kirk taking over the Women's Super League side.

Bedford and her assistant Nicola Williams both depart after the players were informed of the decision on Thursday.

Leicester are bottom of the WSL table with no points from their opening six matches of the season.

In a statement the Foxes said "a change in direction is necessary".

Kirk will be in charge for the first time today... full story here.

Arsenal, meanwhile, make two changes for the trip to the King Power - one enforced as Jordan Nobbs replaces Kim Little, who suffered a knee ligament injury in the win over West Ham and will be out for several weeks.

It's England midfielder Nobbs' first WSL start of the season.

Laura Wienroither comes in for Noelle Maritz at right-back while there's no Vivianne Miedema for the Gunners - the WSL all-time top scorer is on a "leave of absence" to recharge her batteries.

Still no Leah Williamson for Arsenal, either - the Lionesses star remains sidelined by a foot injury.

Arsenal XI: Zinsberger, Wienroither, Wubben-Moy, Catley, McCabe, Walti, Nobbs, Maanum, Mead, Blackstenius, Foord.

Subs: Marckese, Williams, Beattie, Maritz, Reid, Iwabuchi, Hurtig, Agyemang, Earl.
