Portsmouth's 1-1 draw at home to AFC Wimbledon was already enough to take them through in the Trophy, however Josh Oluwayemi's three saves in the shootout ensured Pompey claimed the bonus point which saw them finish top of Group J.

Earlier Leeds United Under-21s failed to qualify from Group B after losing on penalties at Crewe after a 0-0 draw. As a result Tranmere go through as runners-up to Bolton.

    • Tranmere and Stockport played out a stalemate at Prenton Park to remain on the fringes of the play-off chase. Rovers are now eight unbeaten against teams from Greater Manchester and have kept six clean sheets in that spell.

    Bristol City 0-1 Sheffield United

All over at Ashton Gate and Bristol City might feel aggrieved to leave without any points tonight

Iliman Ndiaye's goal early in the second half was enough to take the win, despite the Robins twice hitting the post after. The hosts also had George Tanner sent off late on for a high tackle.

Bristol City are now without a win in their last four matches, while Sheffield United have their second win on the bounce.

West Brom move off the bottom of the table after beating Blackpool!

It wasn't pretty but Okay Yokuslu's scrappy tap in late on gives the hosts three points and moves them to 23rd in the Championship.

It brings to an end a three-game losing streak and gives Carlos Corberan his first win in charge of the Baggies.

  8. RED CARD: George Tanner (Bristol City 90+6 mins)published at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

    Bristol City 0-1 Sheffield United

It's all got a bit ugly at the end of this match, with Bristol City set to see it out with 10 men.

It's George Tanner who's been sent off, rightly for a high tackle on James McAtee. The referee reaches for the red card immediately and there's a bit of a melee that follows between the players on both sides.

  9. Postpublished at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

    West Brom 1-0 Blackpool

Four minutes added on at The Hawthorns.

Four minutes for Blackpool to find a late equaliser.

    Bristol City 0-1 Sheffield United

We've got a huge eight minutes of added time at Ashton Gate.

An absolutely massive goal for West Brom!

Okay Yokuslu taps in at the back post and could this be Carlos Corberan's first win as Albion boss?

The Baggies won't care how scrappy it is, but it's heartbreak for Blackpool.

    Luton 0-0 Reading

No goals tonight to speak of so Luton and Reading share the points. There were chances at both ends with little between the sides - probably fair for two sides level on points in the league table.

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

    Hull 1-3 Middlesbrough

Michael Carrick gets a first win as Middlesbrough boss, with a 3-1 win on the road at Hull.

Chuba Akpom gave Boro a first-half lead and while Cyrus Christie drew the Tigers level after the break it was short-lived. Tobias Figueiredo turned one goal into his own net, before Christie followed suit to hand Boro all three points.

Incoming Hull boss Liam Rosnier, who was watching in the stands, has plenty to think about.

  14. Postpublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

    Luton 0-0 Reading

Chances at both ends at Kenilworth Road but we're heading for a goalless draw as it stands.

Dan Potts' volley goes narrowly over Ethan Horvath's bar and then Shane Long's header goes wide of the far post at the other end.

It won't change the outcome but it might raise a smile from any Colchester fans who haven't left yet. Freddie Sears has pulled one back at Barrow in stoppage-time.

Billy Waters' hat-trick will ensure Barrow go fourth, while Colchester head back the 325 miles to Essex still rock-bottom.

All over at the CBS Arena.

What a victory for Coventry over second-placed Blackburn, whose four-game winning streak comes crashing to an end.

Blackburn's task was made harder late on after Jake Garrett received a straight red card.

Will Collar looked like he might be going clean through for Stockport at Tranmere, where it's still goalless, but a fine last-ditch challenge from Kyle Jameson has denied him the chance to try and earn that fifth straight win for County.

Last five minutes at Prenton Park and it's still anybody's game.

  19. Postpublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

Five minutes added on at Deepdale but Swansea still pushing against Preston.
